A local market is a treat to wander.

Atkins market is an experience that anyone visiting the area must do. Fresh cut meats, awesome bakery and a gift center for that last minute gift one might need. It is eclectic it reminds me of ole Haymarket.

Atkins is an Amherst tradition from the cider donuts to mixes to chocolates to produce to... Stop by for a snack or gourmet groceries. If they have it, it will be the best.

Getting a plain old cup of tea was a bit of a chore here in midafternoon. But it was fun to walk around and pick up some local yogurt, pickled fiddlehead ferns, and other Western Mass items. I can't vouch for the sandwiches or cooked food, but the bakery items sure looked good.

A long, regional tradition, Atkins is the go-to place for fresh produce, fish, meats, bakery, and those gourmet special sauces in jars that you just can't find when you want them. Oh, and the soups and sandwiches, and ice cream cones are great. Yes, especially the ice cream in summer! And just try to pass up those donuts by the... More

Great store. Amazing specialty items. Local produce, great quality meats. Good beer and wine selection. Good sandwiches, soups, bakery. We're lucky enough to live just down the road!

I was in the Amherst area for a short stay, and was looking forward to getting to know the area. I arrived on Sunday and was looking for a good place for lunch. Atkins seemed a good choice - it was open on Sunday, and it had fairly good reviews. Maybe I was overly enthusiastic based on those good reviews,... More

Atkins is a family-owned shop that keeps growing because it's a great place to shop with a growing and loyal following. They have THE BEST ground angus beef, which I buy every time I make hamburgers. I've tried it elsewhere (Whole Foods, Millstone) and this is better. Their vegies and fruit are also the best around. They buy local, and... More

I'd call this a country supermarket, but why all the excitement over it, I'm not sure. If you're visiting Hampshire College, it's a decent place to stop for a snack or groceries, although as other reviewers note, the prices are too high and the food is average U.S. stuff. As for views, I prefer the gardens at the Yiddish Book... More

Farm fresh produce, expansive bakery, meats, fish, deli, specialty items, candy, flowers, gifts, ice cream, beer and wine....it is hard to find something you can't get at Atkins. The quality is always good and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. There are fun events held throughout the year. A great place to stop and spend some time.

What started out as an orchard selling mostly apples has turned into a full service country market. This is one market that is worth going out of your way for -for the apples that are still from their own orchard, or the cider donuts and other bakery items. They even have an extensive gluten-free section. The only thing you could... More
