Amazing Gluten-Free Friendly Haute Cuisine in Amherst

We went for an anniversary dinner shortly after the renovations of the Lord Jeff Inn and its main restaurant were completed, and were delighted with the change. As someone with celiac, finding a restaurant that delights can be so problematic. Not here! Since then, we've gone many times - sometimes... read more

Excellent food and service. Great wine list and fresh produce from the local farmer's market. Very accommodating with substituting orders on sides and the prices were good.

Simple roast beef sandwich and a salad for two ran over $40 with 1 glass of wine and a side dish of fruit salad. The food was ok but not worth $40. Service was on the slow side even though it is Sunday afternoon and there were only three or four patrons in the restaurant. It's not what I remember... More

This is the first time I have ever felt compelled to write a review. The waitress we had was great, everything else was awful. We went on mother's day for the brunch they offered. We had to wait 15 minutes to get seated with numerous empty tables all around us. The hostess was condescending when after 15 minutes we checked... More

Dear Ms Sawyer, Let me begin by thanking you for choosing 30Boltwood for your Mother’s Day celebration. I gather from your comments that you left feeling quite underserved and frustrated with the experience- and for that I would like to offer my sincere apologies. We strive to provide a quality dining experience with each guest, and clearly, we fell short... More

This is always a very relaxing place to eat. It is often crowded and hard to get a reservation, but when you do it is quite enjoyable.

Kudos to Amherst College for funding a much needed renovation of the Lord Jeff and its restaurant. I had previously known this as the tired and stuffy Boltwood Tavern -- the dreaded host of awkward lunches with my economics professor. But the new 30Boltwood is so vastly improved that it's hardly recognizable. Food was quite good on two recent dinner... More

Dear KandMNYC, Thank you for your review on your recent experience at 30Boltwood. We're so pleased to read your complimentary remarks on our service staff, cuisine, and interiors. The copper table tops, modern fixtures, and Edison bulbs are quite the change of atmosphere from the days of Boltwood Tavern. So happy to hear you enjoyed the renovations! We'll look forward... I don't leave comments of trip advisor often but felt obligated to share my experience here this weekend. Service was quick and efficient but rude condescending and stuck up. I have never felt more uncomfortable in a restaurant in my life. If they only knew what I did for a living. Save your $ go somewhere else

Party of 6 for a celebration on Saturday night. Bad service and poor food. This is supposed to be such a nice restaurant but we weren't treated well. Before ordering the flat iron steak, I asked our server what medium was considered here because I did not want purple meat. She assured me the medium would be pink and not... More

The Jeffrey Amherst Inn's restaurant "30 Boltwood" sponsors periodic afternoon "teas" for those who have the time and money to spend an afternoon munching English-style cakes and sandwiches. Unfortunately they don't get it right. The room was cluttered with used plates and cups, service was slow and begrudging, and the prices were quite high. Given the inn's pleasant interior and... We love coming back to the Lord Jeff (and now 30 Boltwood Walk) for our anniversaries and sitting in the room we once had filled with our family and friends. Last night marked our 10th anniversary at the Lord Jeff and it certainly felt like a celebration. We wanted the night to be special and the gastronomic experience at 30... More
