I don't really understand the negative reviews of this place. Coming from NYC, I didn't have super high expectations, but the tacos and the margaritas are delicious. I've been here in small and large groups and it is always really good! Definitely try this place!

Coming from the west coast, no Mexican food in a small town on the east coast holds much promise for me. So, I have no criticism of the Mission Cantina food because I had no expectations. If you don't mind waiting a long long time, go ahead and wait and eat their unexceptional food. What needs to be considered by... More

I ate at The Mission Cantina last evening with my nephew and his young (23 months) son. It was my third visit there and it was every bit as enjoyable as the previous two. The food is fresh and well-prepared. The service is excellent. All of us had a wonderful meal - the 23 month-old included!

Accommodated a party of 6 with no problem. Great Margaritas, Burritos, Quesadillas , salads. Catered to special requests for degree of spice.

I've been to Mission Cantina occasionally and always thought the place was a decent Mexican, but apart from that basically overrated. Face it, the food in the Valley tends to the mediocre, there isn't much competition for Mexican restaurants, and there's not much else happening in South Amherst. Tonight's meal, however, was disgusting in that I suddenly found myself chewing... More

Hey, if your looking for great mexican food, this is the spot! But be careful if you order the tacos because you might get your tooth chipped at no extra cost! Chewing on my third chicken taco on June 24, 2014 my teeth encounter a very hard object, and then I heard a nice crack. I'm no old man, so... More

Still hungry after our dinner. The tacos are mini size so order many of them. I had the Fish Tacos and the tiny pieces of fish were hidden under a lot of shredded red cabbage. But the Margaritas are good and friendly service. Seems like a nice place to get together with friends and make sure you get there early... More

Mexican style food is hard to come buy in our area but Mission Cantina fill that niche very well! Of course, you have to arrive early to get a table since it is very popular. I don't mind feeling like I have joined the blue hair crowd for the early bird specials to get a seat at the bar! Otherwise,... More

Deservedly popular and crowded. They expanded the restaurant but that didn't even dent the hungry diners. Go early, go often! The food is truly excellent (and I am a Mexican food maven) and the margaritas are both varied and exceptional. Atmosphere is casual with everybody knowing they will have a bit of wait and willing to talk cheerfully with strangers... More

We tried this place after hearing great reviews. Also heard how crowded it gets. We arrived a little before 5:00 on a Sunday and had to wait about 40 minutes for a table. There was a steady stream of people behind us. Looks like they need to expand. The loaded nachos, chicken mole, beef burrito and combination taco plate were... More
