Description: Built by Samuel Converse in 1862, the impressive Greek revival structure...
Built by Samuel Converse in 1862, the impressive Greek revival structure at 135 cooper street in Agawam, Massachusetts became home to the Federal Hill Club in 1936. Under the management of its owners, the Moretti family, that establishment remained a premiere restaurant for over fifty years. The Federal’s current owners Michael Presnal and Ralph Santaniello easily integrate the white linen elegance of that bygone era with a fresh and innovative “new American” cuisine that is perfectly prepared and impeccably served. Strong Italian and French influences inspire the contemporary culinary style of chef Presnal in dishes such as his red beet risotto, burnt tangerine glazed cod, and white-chocolate panna cotta. The Federal is dressed up as a special occasion restaurant, but is sociable and affordable enough for every occasion. The restaurant enjoys a dedicated following of appreciative diners from New York to Boston.

A special evening out.

We head here for a nice dinner. With friends or alone, this is a treat. The food is excellent. Love the "be your own chef" option. Service is excellent. Great wine list and the cotton candy is always a welcome treat! The only negative is that it may be a bit noisy.

We attended the Easter brunch and the atmosphere is warm and lively. I ordered the salmon which I believe was poached. It was served in a delicious broth with peas and other veggies and was the best salmon I've ever eaten.

After reading all of the reviews, I expected to be wowed at every turn but ended up coming up a little short. Nine of us attended a business function in the private room which was very comfortable and had good acoustics. We had drinks, appetizers, entrees, dessert and coffee and everything was very good and mostly delicious. The service was... More

We heard good things about this restaurant and were about to make reservations, when we saw foie gras on the menu. We make a point of not patronizing restaurants that serve this cruel dish. So We won't be dining at the Federal until they remove this terrible item from the menu. Yes, yes, we know, it is probably delicious... but... More

Just went here for Valentines Day, most recently, but have been plenty of times in the past. The food here is second to none. Every bite of everything I've ever had here has left me and those I've been with "ooohhhing and ahhhhhing". The risotto balls as an appetizer are a MUST...it's like taking sin. The meats are all cooked... More

We met anther couple for dinner last weekend. The Martinis we're excellent. We dined in the bar at a cozy table for four. Our waiter was spot on. I had the scallops and flank steak. I know it's an odd combination, however I was delighted that both proteins were done to perfection. The dish Came with roasted Brussels sprouts. I... More

The Federal Restaurant was the perfect location for a gathering after a recent family funeral. The funeral took place in Agawam and was a short drive from the church. We were welcomed into the restaurant at noon and had time to socialize with everyone before being seated in the dining room. The luncheon was served family style with chicken, pork,... More

There were 4 of us. Had to order the "balls" as they are very good and presentation is great. Also had a nice dinner salad and the duck. Duck was off the bone in a very complex sauce very good. We also had a couple of steaks and braised beef. For an "upscale"'restaurant I don't get the "create your own... More
