The French Experience has gone downhill over the years at this restaurant

We have been going to this restaurant for 15 years. And 15 years ago, it was a great experience. Now, it is almost unrecognizable, as there is very little operational efficiency and the quality of some of the traditional meals has declined. When I say operational efficiency, I am mainly talking... read more

Our second visit to Le Lyonnais seemed like we went to a different, expensive, and not very good restaurant. The escargot appetizer and the onion soup were good. The ‘seared’ scallops appetizer at $13.95 was two scallops poorly cooked. Ouch! Rack of lamb was very good. That was the only entrée that was not very far below our expectations. The... More

Perhaps the problem with the excruciatingly slow service was exacerbated by the fact that so many more people came in to dine the night before Valentine's Day to avoid the following day's snows storm. However, our visit began with a long wait to even see our hostess to tell them we had arrived & had a 8:00 reservation. We did... More

Living in the Boston suburbs, where the word "restaurant" tends to be equated with pizza-joints or mall eateries that feel like big-box retailers, one of our favorite places for a special-occasion dinner is Le Lyonnais in Acton. For more than forty years, chef/owner Gerard Labrosse has served delectable French country-style meals to grateful local residents and travelers passing through. Le... More

This is a cozy and historic little place in an antique farmhouse, with a very friendly wait staff and a master French chef of the generation of Jacques Pepin and Julia Child. It has an extensive menu and long wine list. We come every year for our anniversary, and have an amazing meal every time. Never crowded, but weekends are... More

It has been quite some time since my husband and I "treated" ourselves to dinner at Le Lyonnais Restaurant. We considered ourselves lucky to be served without a reservation. The ambiance is interesting -- an old house that has a series of small rooms that provide a quiet and cozy atmosphere, sort of shabby chic without being froufrou. The meal... More

We had close to the worst dining experience of our lives at this restaurant on a weekday evening in October. We've travelled extensively in Europe and France, eating at a wide variety of restaurants, bistros and cafés. We're in no way food snobs. The food here was just awful. There were maybe 15 people in total, most in a busy... More

Le Lyonnais has a real french menu: cassoulets, potages, crepes, escargot and meats done in the French style. The even had a ris de veau recently, which is an outstanding dish and something you only want to eat in a French restaurant. The setting of the restaurant just off the road surrounded by a small garden, pond etc in a... More

I enjoyed my meal - service was attentive and nicely paced to have a leisurely meal. Love the views from the back of the building, although I some parts of the home have a bit of a musty smell - perhaps some bleach cleaning might be in order. great location for a romantic meal

My wife and I visited last year, A cozy place to have a French bistro meal on a cold fall/winter evening.
