Red Hot and Blue is a full-service, casual-themed restaurant chain and caterer featuring delicious award-winning ribs, Memphis-style barbeque, smoked wings, and Southern sides and desserts. The atmosphere is steeped in legendary and contemporary blues music and delivers a large dose of Southern hospitality in a fun and entertaining dining environment. History: The first Red Hot and Blue restaurant opened in Arlington, Virginia in 1988, started by Lee Atwater, Don Sundquist and friends. Don Sundquist was from Memphis and served in the House of Representatives and as governor of Tennessee. The late Lee Atwater was an amateur blues musician and political figure that managed George H.W. Bush's successful race for the presidency. These men were friends who longed for authentic Memphis-style barbeque and great blues music. Unable to find that combination anywhere in the Washington, DC area they decided the only way to get it done was to open a restaurant of their own. The Memphis-style barbeque chain celebrated its 25th Anniversary in 2013 by partnering with a charitable organization at 24 different restaurant locations. The yearlong celebration culminated in the presentation of thousands of dollars in donations to local charities. The Name: The name, "Red Hot and Blue" is taken from the title of D.J. Dewey Phillip's radio show that that aired on WHBQ-AM in Memphis, Tennessee in the 1950s. This radio show launched the careers of Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash and broadened the audience for artists such as BB King, Muddy Waters, Robert Cray and Rufus Thomas. Red Hot & Blue Dine-In, Take-Out and Catering. Hickory-smoked Memphis-style BBQ, Ribs, Wings, Beef Brisket, Smoked Chicken, Seafood, Full-service Bar, in a Family-friendly atmosphere with a heapin' helpin' of Southern Hospitality!

Love that Great Red Hot & Blue BBQ but not close enough

When we get to the Annapolis, MD Area we always try to stop here. Today we did carry out & brought it home with us. The Memphis Chicken is what My Husband Loves and I tried the Twister BBQ sandwich..it was really good and I love the Potato Salad & Baked Beans. You can't go wrong with this place.

Its best to take the Red Hot & Blue in Annapolis in context. Famished on a Sunday afternoon as we drove west with the hordes from the Delaware beaches across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge toward Washington, we had to pull over and eat. Just beyond the foot of the bridge, at an exit on the north side of Route 50,... More

Needed a quick bite to eat on way back to shore. Always delicious!!! Hard to chose: ribs, wings, bbq, catfish, etc, (you name it) This got the combo with ribs / blackened catfish, beans & Mac chse! So good. Service and hospitality were great. Looked around saw families, businesses, locals, and tourist. You can't go wrong. Stop in and enjoy!!!

The food was OK. Wait was longer than expected. All items were received. I am not a fan of mustard based sauces and this seems to be standard here.

Hello Colonelsir, I'm sorry to hear your take out visit didn't live up to the standard of service and quality you expected it to. I'm not sure if you had the opportunity to sample our BBQ Sauces, but only one out of our five signature BBQ Sauces contains mustard (Big Mama's Mustard). Additionally we offer several other sauces (non bbq)... More

Was supposed to meet two friends for Happy Hour. Somehow our group swelled to eight. The staff never missed a beat and made us a table to fit the group in a corner; where we could socialize without crowding the bar. Our server, Morgan, was attentive, funny, and somehow able to anticipate drink orders without anyone having to ask. The... More

Variety of BBQ meats and styles. Large portions at reasonable prices. Ribs, pulled pork, pulled chicken, brisket, sausage and sandwiches. Get a mixed plate or only one item. Plenty of sides to choose from as well.

One of our favorite places to eat. Try the pork nachos, or a BBQ sandwich with slaw on it. Best tea around. Good sides. In fact, everything we've had here is wonderful. The one time (on a holiday) that we got some ribs that were dry and overcooked, I let them know about it and received a gift certificate to... More

We pass this place every year on the way home from the beach and finally stopped. My husband got the carolina bbq and I got a salad with beef brisket and chicken. Both the meat and sauces were amazing. If you're limited on time like we were, you can grab carry out and eat at the picnic tables. Definitely recommend!

Best Barbecue and ribs this side of anywhere. Nothing I couldn't recommend on the menu. Deocr is appropriate for a BBQ restaurant. Servers pleasant and efficient.

You can not do better than Red,Hot and Blue! Wonderful ribs, pulled pork and chicken. Try their wonderful potato salad. People do "take out" sometimes just for that. Call ahead for takeout. It is a busy place especially on weekends. Their Party Packs are good combinations.
