Red Hot and Blue is a full-service, casual-themed restaurant chain and caterer featuring delicious award-winning ribs, Memphis-style barbeque, smoked wings, and Southern sides and desserts. The atmosphere is steeped in legendary and contemporary blues music and delivers a large dose of Southern hospitality in a fun and entertaining dining environment. History: The first Red Hot and Blue restaurant opened in Arlington, Virginia in 1988, started by Lee Atwater, Don Sundquist and friends. Don Sundquist was from Memphis and served in the House of Representatives and as governor of Tennessee. The late Lee Atwater was an amateur blues musician and political figure that managed George H.W. Bush's successful race for the presidency. These men were friends who longed for authentic Memphis-style barbeque and great blues music. Unable to find that combination anywhere in the Washington, DC area they decided the only way to get it done was to open a restaurant of their own. The Memphis-style barbeque chain celebrated its 25th Anniversary in 2013 by partnering with a charitable organization at 24 different restaurant locations. The yearlong celebration culminated in the presentation of thousands of dollars in donations to local charities. The Name: The name, "Red Hot and Blue" is taken from the title of D.J. Dewey Phillip's radio show that that aired on WHBQ-AM in Memphis, Tennessee in the 1950s. This radio show launched the careers of Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash and broadened the audience for artists such as BB King, Muddy Waters, Robert Cray and Rufus Thomas. Red Hot & Blue Dine-In, Take-Out and Catering. Hickory-smoked Memphis-style BBQ, Ribs, Wings, Beef Brisket, Smoked Chicken, Seafood, Full-service Bar, in a Family-friendly atmosphere with a heapin' helpin' of Southern Hospitality!

Decent BBQ Meals

There were 6 of us and we each ordered a different meal. The serving sizes were very good. The ribs were a bit over cooked. The pork sandwich was dry. The other meals seemed good. The catfish sandwich was very good. The prices were reasonable.

I grew up in West Tennessee. Their pulled pork BBQ and dry ribs are what I grew up eating. This is the place to go for Memphis BBQ.

I eat at this Red, Hot and Blue at least once a month. Their dry rubbed baby backed ribs are the best. Their potatoe salad, at $7.00 a quart is better than my wifes home made. This place can get very crowded at times, as many will stop off on the way to the beach

Drinks are jug size and portions are perfect. The place to go for BBQ. Not very gluten friendly, but I get the roasted chicken and it is always tasty. It definitely is a place for the whole family.

The food is ok, just ok, but do not - repeat, DO NOT - sign up for their emails. The send emails but offer no way to opt out once you sign up. I cannot get them to stop, no matter how often I write. Perhaps the only way to stop the spam is to call the corporate offices at... More

It's about what you'd expect for a chain. The ambiance in the bar area is pretty nice with lots of memorabilia of past great performers (Elvis, Blues Brother, and Janis Joplin - to name just a few of the featured artists); however, the outer ring (away from the bar by the windows) is really pretty unimaginative and plain. The service... More

Down home barbecue, amazing potato salad, and tea served in your own pitcher. The four of us were very happy with our ribs, brisket, NC barbecue, hush puppies and fried okra. Excellent service.... A good selection of quality BBQ, sides and tender ribs, all served by an attentive staff in a fun atmosphere featuring good Blues music. Prices are reasonable and you will definitely leave full.

We've eaten here so often that we've almost burned outselves out on it! The food here is fantastic. Southern style barbecue and sides. It's nice to go somewhere that you can get good collards, cornbread muffins, potato salad, fried catfish, banana pudding, etc. We've never been disappointed in the food or in any meal we've had from here. They make... More
