Red Hot and Blue is a full-service, casual-themed restaurant chain and caterer featuring delicious award-winning ribs, Memphis-style barbeque, smoked wings, and Southern sides and desserts. The atmosphere is steeped in legendary and contemporary blues music and delivers a large dose of Southern hospitality in a fun and entertaining dining environment. History: The first Red Hot and Blue restaurant opened in Arlington, Virginia in 1988, started by Lee Atwater, Don Sundquist and friends. Don Sundquist was from Memphis and served in the House of Representatives and as governor of Tennessee. The late Lee Atwater was an amateur blues musician and political figure that managed George H.W. Bush's successful race for the presidency. These men were friends who longed for authentic Memphis-style barbeque and great blues music. Unable to find that combination anywhere in the Washington, DC area they decided the only way to get it done was to open a restaurant of their own. The Memphis-style barbeque chain celebrated its 25th Anniversary in 2013 by partnering with a charitable organization at 24 different restaurant locations. The yearlong celebration culminated in the presentation of thousands of dollars in donations to local charities. The Name: The name, "Red Hot and Blue" is taken from the title of D.J. Dewey Phillip's radio show that that aired on WHBQ-AM in Memphis, Tennessee in the 1950s. This radio show launched the careers of Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash and broadened the audience for artists such as BB King, Muddy Waters, Robert Cray and Rufus Thomas. Red Hot & Blue Dine-In, Take-Out and Catering. Hickory-smoked Memphis-style BBQ, Ribs, Wings, Beef Brisket, Smoked Chicken, Seafood, Full-service Bar, in a Family-friendly atmosphere with a heapin' helpin' of Southern Hospitality!

Good BBQ and large Portions

Variety of BBQ meats and styles. Large portions at reasonable prices. Ribs, pulled pork, pulled chicken, brisket, sausage and sandwiches. Get a mixed plate or only one item. Plenty of sides to choose from as well.

One of our favorite places to eat. Try the pork nachos, or a BBQ sandwich with slaw on it. Best tea around. Good sides. In fact, everything we've had here is wonderful. The one time (on a holiday) that we got some ribs that were dry and overcooked, I let them know about it and received a gift certificate to... More

We pass this place every year on the way home from the beach and finally stopped. My husband got the carolina bbq and I got a salad with beef brisket and chicken. Both the meat and sauces were amazing. If you're limited on time like we were, you can grab carry out and eat at the picnic tables. Definitely recommend!

Best Barbecue and ribs this side of anywhere. Nothing I couldn't recommend on the menu. Deocr is appropriate for a BBQ restaurant. Servers pleasant and efficient.

You can not do better than Red,Hot and Blue! Wonderful ribs, pulled pork and chicken. Try their wonderful potato salad. People do "take out" sometimes just for that. Call ahead for takeout. It is a busy place especially on weekends. Their Party Packs are good combinations.

We stopped in on Father's Day on the way to a Celtic Woman concert (separate review), and were seated quickly in a comfortable booth. The server was friendly, quick and efficient in getting our food out. My chicken barbecue platter was the right choice and way too much for one person. As usual, hubby got half of it. Our iced... Have been going here for years but not lately as it's almost an hour from home. Usually stop in when either in the area or going to or coming from the beach. Food is always excellent, wish they were closer. Had my usual, a rack of dry rub ribs. I get them without sauce because I like the rub and... More

Had lunch here recently. Pretty good pulled pork and several different sauces to choose from. Baked beans were fine. Coleslaw is not my thing and this did not change my opinion. The service was prompt and very attentive. I really like the large classes they use for their drinks. Lunch for two was $32.

Was staying across the Hiway at the Comfort inn and arrived late...since this was really the only option, I rolled in for a take out meal. Now a take out meal is sketchy, and shouldn't be the end all be all review, I gave this joint 3 Stars. It was so good it was forgettable - Pulled pork, fries, slaw....that's... More

Stop by on our way home from DC to Delaware quite often.. A rack of ribs makes for a good meal, and then enough left over for a large pulled pork and cheese sub made at home.. Love the slaw, cornbread and salads..
