one of my most disappointing meals, ever

Well-reviewed, Les Folies is a stand by traditional french bistro. Due to it's location, which is on a strip of gas stations and fast food places, expectations were fairly high, especially based on a number of reviews from various sources. We tried this restaurant on a cold day when French food sounded comforting. The menu was filled with classic French dishes with a few specials. One, the Boston clam chowder, was filled with delicately tender clams and tiny dice of cooked potato (a refreshing change from the huge hunks of potato one often gets in clam chowder) but the stock... We hadn't been to Les Folies in more than a year, and it is nice to know it still is one of the best restaurants in the area. I started with the cream of split pea soup and it was delicious. For my entree, I decided on the filet mignon. I normally don't order steak in a restaurant, but I... More

We truly enjoyed the old fashioned ambiance of Les Folies and will return. The cheese plate was just right in terms of variety and amount. My husband enjoyed Steak Frites, with a very nice vinegar based sauce and I loved my Arctic Char with spinach sauce and hope they feature this on future specials. I'd order again. Because this is... This was our second year at Les Folies for New Year's Eve. What a blast! A great jazz band, dancers from local school performing selections from Cats, dancing, marching around the restaurant after midnight, following a wonderful clarinetist - what more? Oh, the food - marvelous as usual! Reserve early - it's a sell-out!

It's comforting and reassuring when something really good doesn't change. My wife and I hadn't been to Les Folies for perhaps a year, and now I'm wondering why not. The specials are innovative, but the basic menu hasn't changed at all. I had the escalope de veau in mushroom sauce which is a classic and was wonderfully prepared. My wife... More

It's wonderful to return to Les Folies time after time and experience food that is excellently prepared, waiters who know how to serve, an ambience that appears a little old world, yet exudes a vibrant atmosphere and a smattering of surprisingly fun theme evenings. It shows when a restaurant owner is there to greet guests, supervise his long-time and loyal... More

It's been years since we have been to Les Folies. Somewhere in the back of my memory I recall a disappointing experience, though I cannot now recall the circumstance. Recently, as a birthday fete for the Sister-in-law, who dearly wants to visit Paris, we took in a leisurely Parisian style déjeuner. We started with escargot, which were properly garlic-y and... OK, I read the other reviews, and agree, to an extent. But who wants a lemon drop martini?! ... at a restaurant that is like Paris in the 70's (when I lived there). I love it BECAUSE it is old-fashioned French. If I want cutting edge, I'll peruse Feastly.com, but When I want French nostalgia? Les Folies. We are going... More
