Expensive, but Good

When I was in college, Cafe Normandie was the place to go to celebrate an occasion. The food is consistently good, the service attentive, and the experience excellent.

We had a most enjoyable evening. The area was crowded but we found parking out front quickly. The food was very good and their staff friendly and professional. We had onion soup and the calamari which both were great. Our main entree was the sea bass and lack which were also terrific. Andrew

The food is good but not too impressed with the wait staff. On our first visit, the waiter was competent, if not helpful or friendly. On our second visit, the waiter was just awful. He took our drink and appetizer order then disappeared until the appetizer dishes were long since stacked and water and drink glasses empty. Finally ordered dinner... More

Having moved from the Annapolis are some three years ago, we made it a point to make a reservation for Sunday brunch at Café Normandie. Boy, were we surprised. At the prime brunch time of 11:00 AM, there were almost no diners when we arrived. When we left, an hour or so later, there were still empty tables and few... More

We immensely enjoyed our recent meal with friends at Cafe Normandie. The appetizer platter was to die for, with melt-in-your-mouth morsels of a wide variety of nibbles on a very French three-tier platter. We each enjoyed our main entrees, and everyone had trouble deciding on what to eat as the menu has so many wonderful choices on it. The waiter... More

We came on a Friday night without a reservation, and were able to get seated for dinner very quickly. Although busy, the staff found a table for us. Our waiter Ben was very attentive and after we choose items off the specials for the day, informed us that we had made great choices. He was not wrong. Everything from the... More

As a former Annapolitan, I used to frequent Café Normandie regularly. Now I go every time I go back home. The Salmon with Blueberries and the Cream of Crab soup are to die for. The only bad thing I have to say about Café Normandie is that the wait staff has always been bad every time I've gone. We usually... More

We drove by and noticed the impressive window and signage, and having family from Normandie we had to go in. The interior does not match the tasteful exterior. When we sat down, our suspicions about the restaurant started to stir, but the proof is in the food. My wife started with the gazpacho, and I had the crab bisque. Both... More

We have been to Café Normandie many times. Always good food, an OK vibe and staff. But this last time -- we had a very negative experience that I just had to write about. We were starting our vacation on our sailboat, and before leaving Annapolis decided to have dinner here. We had an 8:30 reservation on July 2nd. We... More

The name of the restaurant is French and they give French names to their dishes but I think that the French chefs would cry: "Sacrilege!!!!!!!!!!!!" if they ever tasted this food. My roasted duck was overcooked to the point where I had a hard time cutting it. My husband's ziti noodles, which accompanied his Boeuf Bourguignon, were overcooked as well.... More
