Seafood Heaven, Love the Chowder!

Read about Red Barn here and boy did it live up to the reviews. Line almost out the door and we were sitting down to eat in no time. Seafood chowder was scallops, clams, crab and lobster meat held together with cream. Add a big hunk of lobster claw meat across the top and yum. Fried scallops were... read more

The place is just The Red Barn. Not sure where the Drive-In name came from on here. If you are driving anywhere near the Augusta area, you must take the time to stop by. The food is the most delicious and consistent of any seafood spot in Maine. You are not on the water but honestly, this New Yorker doesn't... More

Super fast service and very reasonably price. We almost always get a chicken basket. There is enough for both my husband and I to share! Piping hot and not greasy. We usually go a few times a month, so delish! Very friendly staff too!

This place is owned by a member of a long line of a food-service family. It shows. The lobster stew cannot be outdone. The seating is mostly booths, so it cannot be called a five star restaurant, but it deserves it. The lines are long but quick. All of the food is excellent. Lobster rolls are great. All seafood is... Previous visits have been very good but not this time. The mixed seafood plate was mostly fish, clams were few and were almost all strips -one belly on the plate. A few tiny shrimp, and maybe two scallops. Not near up to standards. We won't get a mixed plate here again, if we return.

Hi Cands2, We apologize that your mixed seafood was not up to our typical standards! We train our employees to weigh out each item equally and will find out why that didn't happen on your visit. Please send us your mailing address to redbarn1977@gmail.com so we can send you a giftcard for the mixed seafood basket. We hope you will... More

I hate to be a naysayer, but we just weren’t impressed with the food. The location is quaint, and the Staff were all very nice! However, the food was just plain and seemed low quality. And all 5 people that I was with agreed with me. The fries were clearly frozen from a bag. And the fried shrimp was small... More

I know fried seafood. I can go on at great length on the virtues of the perfectly cooked fried clam. A visit to the Red Barn will bring those same virtues to the forefront! The fish, scallops, clams are always perfectly cooked! The seafood chowder is delicious. I could write for hours, but the only way to truly understand what... More

Fast and furious with lots of people. Great food and milkshakes. One of my favorite places. Much better than MacDonalds!

This is the 3rd time we have driven 3 hours to visit this restaurant in Augusta, Maine. You place your order at a counter and it is never more than 5 minutes before your order is called to pick up. Dining area, both inside and outside, is extremely clean, and the seafood, lobster rolls, seaford chowder, etc, is so very... More
