Description: Was formerly the Bond Brook Pancake House, Mt Vernon Ave, Augusta, ME. Owners had an opportunity to move into a restored, historic building in the heart of the downtown business district. Even managed to preserve a stained-glass storefront-wide window advertising a shoe store which occupied the site in the original building. Specializes in breakfast and lunch, opening at 5:30 or 6:00 most mornings and closing at 2:00. Numerous breakfast combination plates available whenever they're open. Soup-and-sandwich specials daily featuring their home-made soups and chowders. Simple, straight-forward seating, reasonablle prices, and a staff that can be as fun or formal as you like. Real favorite with "the locals", the local electric and telephone line crews, and downtown office workers. Would suggest Trip Advisor discontinue Bond Brook Pancake House listing -- business no longer exists and rental property where they used to be is now vacant.

We went to Augusta to look at the architecture of the library, the congregational church, the Victorian homes, and the state house....all of which are magnificent. We found the diner at lunch time, and were really glad we did! 1st, they serve breakfast all day (which made me happy), next they had really good hamburgers (husband happy), coffee, salads, and... Locally owned and run, traditional Maine meals. Nothing exciting, but run very well. Not many non meat eater options, and they do not use farm fresh eggs, but overall a decent little spot.

Had lunch there yesterday. Very friendly staff and great food. I had the fish sandwich, which was excellent. This is a great casual place to eat in downtown Augusta, Maine.

Not the big shiny diner along the interstate, this place is in an old building in downtown, riverfront area of Maine's Capital city (Pretty sleepy on the rainy spring Sunday we were there) and I completely recommend it. Sunday's are breakfast only, and why would you want anything else. I had the "Maine Breakfast" - certainly nothing wrong with it,... More

Very friendly staff. Delicious homemade muffins. The very best eggs benedict in town. They use slab ham, not shaved deli meat. Reasonable prices.

I've enjoyed several meals at the Downtown Diner and would heartily recommend. They make their own bread, serve breakfast all day and have great specials. The food tastes fresh, the fries are excellent and I especially enjoy the fish chowder and the reuben on rye. Our waitpersons are always friendly and fast. The tables are not too close for comfort... Always such a treat to have breakfast or lunch at the Downtown Diner. Lunch favorites .. homemade soup & chicken salad sandwich on cinnamon bread. Prices are extremely affordable. When visiting the Augusta area, the Diner is a must stop (usually a couple times). Employees are warm & friendly.

Friendly diner in downtown Augusta, built in a nicely restored retail building. I liked the very homey friendly atmosphere which felt more like family than a business. The food however was greasy and unpalatable. I would not go again.

We recently went into Downtown Diner on a recommendation from friends. We had a large party (8) and despite it being a Sunday morning we didn't have to wait long for a table. They happily brought us coffee while we waited out front.the meal was very affordable and the food came quickly. We will be back.
