Description: Was formerly the Bond Brook Pancake House, Mt Vernon Ave, Augusta, ME...
Was formerly the Bond Brook Pancake House, Mt Vernon Ave, Augusta, ME. Owners had an opportunity to move into a restored, historic building in the heart of the downtown business district. Even managed to preserve a stained-glass storefront-wide window advertising a shoe store which occupied the site in the original building. Specializes in breakfast and lunch, opening at 5:30 or 6:00 most mornings and closing at 2:00. Numerous breakfast combination plates available whenever they're open. Soup-and-sandwich specials daily featuring their home-made soups and chowders. Simple, straight-forward seating, reasonablle prices, and a staff that can be as fun or formal as you like. Real favorite with "the locals", the local electric and telephone line crews, and downtown office workers. Would suggest Trip Advisor discontinue Bond Brook Pancake House listing -- business no longer exists and rental property where they used to be is now vacant.

Great breakfast

When traveling I try to find a diner that measures up to Mikes place. I have been all over N.E. And haven't found one that even comes close. Went to Mothers in New Orleans. Isn't even in the top ten compared to here. Food is great and the service is better. They make you feel welcome and like... read more

Once I found out about this little diner and after I tried it for the first time, I came back everyday for a week straight until my business trip in Augusta was over. But whenever I'm back in Augusta, I'll be sure to stop by for breakfast again. One of my favorite things was the thick "texas toast" made from... More

This is a special place in the heart of Augusta. Great food, friendly service, and a charming atmosphere :-) We especially love the Sunday morning brunch. Most importantly, we love supporting a local business that is committed to downtown!

So many people don't realize that bond brook pancake house didn't close, they just reopened under a new name in a new location. The same friendly staff and the same menu, so it feels just like you're old breakfast stomping grounds. I've never had a better pancake anywhere else and everything else on the menu is tasty too.

Yes, there a some fine restaurants in Augusta, Maine to stop for breakfast, including Lisa's on Bangor Street and AHOP on Western Avenue. However, Downtown Diner on Water Street is not to be missed as breakfast is definitely superb, the waitresses (staff!) are awesome, the atmosphere is unique, and let's face it, it is worth the wait if the place... We were in the Augusta for the first time and after visiting the forts nearby we decided to grab a bite to eat. As we drove past the Downtown Diner we couldn't help but notice it was packed. Good enough recommendation for me so we went inside for lunch. After seeing what the others were eating I opted for french... More

We tried eating here another couple of times for breakfast. There was no place to sit. As usual. Plus there's no actual waiting area - you're just packed in by the door. I suppose this means that the food is good, but it's also good at the Pancake House on Western Avenue and Lisa's on Bangor Street, and you can... More

We went to Augusta to look at the architecture of the library, the congregational church, the Victorian homes, and the state house....all of which are magnificent. We found the diner at lunch time, and were really glad we did! 1st, they serve breakfast all day (which made me happy), next they had really good hamburgers (husband happy), coffee, salads, and... Locally owned and run, traditional Maine meals. Nothing exciting, but run very well. Not many non meat eater options, and they do not use farm fresh eggs, but overall a decent little spot.
