Great Eating at the End of the Road!

When you live in Louisiana, you are always exposed to great food. Well, I found a Pearl in Abbeville. I had heard the advertising by a local radio person, who tells it like it is when it comes to food. We were on the way to another Great Louisiana Festival. We decided to drive the extra hour to... read more

We came for lunch, sat at the counter, and were incredibly happy diners! Of course, it was horribly busy, but we were welcomed at the counter by two very amiable bartenders who were quick to take our order. My boyfriend LOVES oysters on the half shell - and was quite pleased by the freshness and the size of the oysters... More

You can get your oysters just about any way you like them, and you will like them just fine. Shrimp, too. Plus, there will always be a fish special on the menu, like Catfish Atchafalaya, or Blackened Drum. Shrimp poboys, grilled, or fried, on good French bread. Give the sweet potato fries a try; you won't be sorry. There's probably... More

There was a friendly crowd outside waiting so it had to be good, right? We got right in at the bar and ordered drinks plus charbroiled oysters and a seafood salad. That's all we needed for lunch to share. Excellent & well priced.

Their seafood platter consists of side choices too many to mention, Mild fried fish, Large fried fish, Well seasoned oysters and hush puppies. Try adding some hot sauce to their no onions potato salad. Portions large and had to take some home. Only drawback is all soft drinks are served in small bottles

Like all of Louisiana, most restaurants are closed on Mondays except this place. Though not our first choice while in town, it will definitely be a place we go back to. They had lots of appetizers mainly oysters. Charbroiled done many ways is the perfect appetizer and they have many options. They do have fairly standard choices beyond the oysters... More

Although there are other seafood restaurants in the quaint little town of Abbeville you owe it to yourself to have lunch or dinner at this historic restaurant. While you are enjoying some of the best seafood available on the Gulf Coast you can learn about the wonderful history of this establishment on the banks of the Vermilion River. The menu... More

This is a family friendly place. They have a great menu selection. Everything is great from the salads to the desserts. The service is great. Most of the waitresses have been there for many many years. The new owners come by the table to make sure everything was good. All around nice place.

For many years I have enjoyed eating at Shucks. David and Bert have made a good thing even better! During a visit in February I tasted the bread pudding for the 1st time - where has this been all my life? How did I miss ordering it after all these years? I have been craving it ever since. The texture... More

Visiting Lafayette, LA, I asked the front desk at my hotel where was the best place for charbroiled oysters. He told me, if I didn't mind the drive to head out to Shucks in Abbeville. 20 minute drive from Lafauette. Man was the trip worth it! I started with 3 orders of various charbroiled oysters, each better than the other.... More
