I dropped by for my first time - for a quick dinner. The place was nice and I was able to meet / talk with the owner. Portions were very small and overall sort of expensive. But the overall conversation and hospitality was nice. Then the next morning - stomach issues. I have traveled to Panama for the past 5... More

This is one of our two favorite places for sushi in Panama. It's always good and conveniently located with parking. The ambience is nice and the staff is always pleasant. We love the spicy shrimp appetizer and several of the different rolls. Delicious!

It was the Japanese restaurant close by our hotel, which is why we went. In short, it is too expensive for the average food you get. Besides the service was moderate at best, with staff that clearly did not enjoy being there.

This is one of those sushi restaurants where they hide wasabi inside the sushi whether you want it or not, they don't even ask. Besides the Restaurant is overpriced. I've just had my dinner there paying $52 for a cup of tea and set of 14 sushi.

Apart from the owner's booty, nothing is interesting there. Costed 43$ for a lame lunch for two, service is slow and not attentive. (That's just normal panamá city though.) I would recommend you eat something other than sushi in PC.

The restaurant that caused me to write a review... My wife and I are spending 11 nights in Panama, splitting that between PC, Boquete and Bocas. Our last night in PC, we wanted dinner and couldn't get a reservation at La Posta. Matsuei is located right next to our hotel (Toscana Inn) so we figured we'd walk down there. The... More

While not a great sushi place, just a few years ago, there were very few sushi/Japanese restaurants to choose from in Panama City. The pricing was OK and food more than passible. Sushi-aholics should take refuge wherever and whenever possible in Panama!

Efficient service by our Japanese-Panamanian waitress was a welcome change from the seemingly disorganized service at many rests in panama. The fish was apparently local and it was great. The rolls with the plantains we different than we've had elsewhere and tasty. We enjoyed the hamachi, red tuna, and eel sashimi a lot. Skip the ceviche in favor of the... More

It's a nice looking sushi bar, but the food and service were quite average. I preferred Veneto's sushi bar to Matsuei.

I have just come back a couple of mintues ago from Matsuei and am overwhelmed by the urge to hit something. This place is an average sushi bar, compared to the fare available in larger, more cosmopolitan cities such as NYC or Mexico, DF. The sashimi is just ok, and the nigiri sushi is similarly unremarkable; you wouldn't know by... More
