My wife & I went back after a long hiatus from Maito and everything we experienced on our prior visits happened again. The food is excellent, no doubt. But the portions are ridiculously small by any standards. Once again, after three courses and coffee, I left feeling hungry. For me and my contemporaries to go back and pay that amount... More

Great solid 5 star restaurant, love ceviche frito! The pork tacos and the tamales were so perfect and tasty. my favorite was the sangria omg! Amazing Te tuna tataki was good but not special like the other dishes. We tried the octopus and it was very tender and generous. I suppose it was from Spain. Excellent service. The sticks and... We did not have a reservation, but luckily got a table because we arrived before opening (7 pm) and the rush doesn't start until 8:30 or 9:00. Everyone else had a reservation as we watched them check in. They sat us at a lovely table outside, a beautiful setting, and we could watch all the decked out people coming in,... More

The food and wine options were excellant, atmosphere beautiful (though in a funny neighborhood). The service on the other hand was very...Panamanian and slow. I get that this is the culture and not to expect more but this took away from our experience there.

If you are in Panama City and want to dip your toes into Panamanian foods try and make a booking for this special gem, and go with the tasting menu. They graciously made room for 14 of us last night (10max usually) and wow. Best experience ever. Staff attentive but not overbearing maître de explained every course. Superb.

We had a little bit of a problem finding the place, that is to say the young taxi driver did. Down a dark street, that appears to be residential. The building, one story, is set way back off the street, so there is ample parking for BMW's, Benz's, etc. The staff were all nice, our waiter was out of Barcelona,... More

During our planning of our Panama trip my wife book marked Maito and i am glad she did! We made reservations before we left New York to make sure we had a table, it was easy to do, i just called one evening about a week before we planned to be in Panama. When we arrived we were guided to... More

Our taxi driver had difficulty in locating this restaurant which is hidden away in the business district.....but it was worth the effort. The decor is simple but smart and the front of house staff are very efficient, led by by a knowledgeable and helpful Spaniard from Barcelona. The menu provides a good mix of local cuisine and European influences, all... More

Very good service, presentation and best of all the food. Portions were not too big neiher minimal like some newer places. Fish was served to perfection, same as veggies! Just great. The setting is alzo very pleasant, you can have in or outdoors tables.
