Rene Cafe is a quaint little restaurant in the old quarter that offers a real bang for your buck. The menu is very simple and fixed price offering pork, chicken or fish. Last nights offerings was a pan fried Sea Bass for the fish and a delicious lightly curried chicken along with a salad, a lovely mixed rice dish, and... More

When visitng Casco Viejo stopped in to Rene Cafe for lunch. Located on one of the corners of Independence Square near Cathedral Church. A very reasonable price of $10.00 for a 3 course lunch. Very small menu choice of chicken pork fish or vegetarian for the main dish. I had a very nice tossed salad, fresh bread with garlic butter,... More

Stumbled in by chance, but were very pleased with our meal. Home style cooking, varying menu, great price. Food was very tasty, perfect sized portions. Would definitely visit again.

This place is quite small. Five tables seating four, and one seating two. We were at the artisan "mall" across the square. It was 11:43 am so I thought we'd check to see if this place was open. I think they open at about 11:30. By 12:20 all but the double table were occupied, two couples and three groups of... More

This establishment became part of our daily stop. We enjoyed the people and the snacks. The patio was great to sit on and we would jump in between all the places that share the square. The people and area are beautiful.

Lonely Planet must have hit a better night when they rated this restaurant. The promise of six courses for $25.00 seemed like a deal....fun to sample "creative cooking." However, a pallid pumpkin soup arrived followed by a sweet, greasy won ton. The screwed octopus was tough, and the other dishes unremarkable.Desert was a tasteless and small piece of vanilla cake.The... More

OK, we had dinner here. Many of the reviewers ate lunch. Dinner is a many course meal - a fixed menu with a huge amount of mediocre food. Here was the order and rating on a 1 to 5 where 5 is great. Appetizers Pumpkin soup 2/5 bland Salad 4/5 - nothing wrong a decent mixed salad Fired Wonton with... More

We ate dinner here on our last night in Panama City. The food was great. So many courses served we lost count! Highlights included a fresh salad, ropa vieja, tortilla de platano, and some other chicken and fish dishes I wish I remembered the name of. The people here were very friendly. It was fun to have a prefixed meal... More

The lunch came in 3 courses and cost a little more than 10 dollars. Some of the best food I've had, and the service was great!

We took a chance and made a reservation at this small, quaint cafe in Panama. They had a set menu for lunch which was fantastic and it included soup, salad, your entree with two sides and a small dessert. The food was freshly prepared, the portions was just perfect and very tasteful. Even the frozen fruit drinks we ordered were... More
