The first thing we noticed about this eatery was the toilet would not flush. Although, we did not yet realize this we were about to embark on a completely revolutionary culinary journey. Rene presents his latest interpretation of sustainable dining by sourcing all ingredients ultralocally- from the porcelain bowl. We were very lucky to be dining with a large and... More

There is a reason this is one of the best restaurants in Panama City. This reminded me of one of those small restaurants in Old San Juan. Rene Cafe is a very quaint restaurant with 6 tables inside and maybe 3 outside. Rene himself is greeting and serving you. It would be next to impossible to not enjoy yourself when... More

This became my place for food during a tie in Panama city. It is a wonderful restaurant, feeling as if you are in someone's kitchen, with owners and staff obviously taking pride with what they are preparing and rightly so. The food (I mainly went for the lunch set menu) was delicious, simple, and very affordable. This really is a... More

The Menu of the day comes with multiple sides or courses, you pick the meat, they choose the rest. Everything was good and the environment is so quaint and comfortable.

We ate at this simple but fantastic cafe in Casco Viejo twice on our trip - once for lunch, once for dinner. The menus are set, so you just pick your main course (fish, chicken or pork). You can order the lunch menu for dinner if you're not hungry enough for the extended menu. Great wine selection and atmosphere.

You get a good meal with lots of food at a very reasonable price in a nice restaurant. I went every evening for dinner while I was staying in the area. My meal consisted of bread, soup, salad, rice and beans, a choice of chicken, pork or fish and desert all for 10.00. It was a nice place to go... More

Right when we walked in, we knew this was going to be a great restaurant. Greeted by Rene himself, we settled in to a fantastic evening meal. The location is perfect, right across the street from the huge cathedral in the heart of the old city or Casco Viejo. Not unlike a European atmosphere! Rene recommended the sea bass with... More

A quiet place in the center of Panama city. Limited menu, but what there is is cooked right there, is delightful and substantial. Our small party of four had soup, One of :fish, pork or chisken; a jazzed up rice dish, and desert for the royal sum of about $10.00 each (We also had beer). Every item was delicious, and... More

We had the $10 lunch menu for dinner, which was ok. Nothing special, nothing outstandingly bad. You have the choice of meat/fish/vegetarian.
