This was such a disappointment. Rene doesn't cook anymore, he just runs the place. We had to 'fight' on the phone for a table because they were 'fully booked', but when we got there there was only one table busy, and ours. We were there until they closed, no one else showed up. As for the food, i think 6... More

My husband and I stopped in for lunch not knowing what to expect and when we walked in there was only one table for two available. The place was packed, which is always a good sign. The lunch is a pre-set menu with fish, chicken, pork and vegetarian options. The portions were a very good size, we left absolutely satisfied... More

You will not be disappointed by this cafe. My husband and I come back to this place each time we visit Panama City. The food is simple but always delicious and plentiful. The owner and staff are very attentive and friendly. We love to sit outside at the small sidewalk tables overlooking the Cathedral and main square in Casco Viejo,... More

We ended up here for lunch, more or less on accident. A tour group had filled the inside, but we were able to take one of the last tables outside (there are only two, it's a small place). While there aren't many options, you pick fish, chicken or pork, the lunch was great. We were served salad, bread, a spanish... More

We came here for a late dinner after wandering around looking for something inexpensive. We had the set lunch menu at dinner time since we weren't that hungry, and couldn't even finish despite the food being delicious. For $10, we got bread with herbed butter, a large salad, a egg & potato dish, wild herbed rice, chicken with delicious sauce,... More

Location - easy to find. It's located near the northeast corner of the central cathedral square. Decor- homely. The owner is Ecuadorian. The kitchen is in full view. The food is hygienically prepared. It is a very pleasant atmosphere. Almost, like going to your grandfather's house and eating. Food - The menu is fixed. For lunch, it is $10 per... More

Saw Rene Cafe on the corner of a courtyard in the Old City area of Panama City. Remember seeing it on Trip Advisor so I stopped in with my boyfriend. We were greeted at the door and welcomed to have a seat. We got the menu and, at first, I thought I was in the wrong place. The lunch options... More
