This restaurant is lovely and we ate here 2 nights out of our 4 night stay in Old Town (PC). You only get to chose 2 options .. You either chose the lunch menu or the dinner .. both options you can share but I would really recommend trying the dinner option as you get to try everything. They basically bring... More

We were looking for a place to eat, and there were a couple on the street. The owner was out front looking for people like us. He waved us over, and we could not say no. From the initial look we expected expensive - they had linen tablecloths and napkins at lunch. There were a few specials and we tried... More

For $10 U.S. per person we were served bread, salad, curry rice, choice of meat (curry chicken, pan fried sea bass, or pork) and a small dessert. Everything was excellent and very well prepared. We stopped a local man on the street and asked him to recommend a restaurant. He personally led us to Rene Cafe, and even though lunch... More

This place was recommended to me, but it really wasn't that great. Especially for the price. Food was sub par.

We were doing a tour of the colonial part of Panama City and our guide pointed out a few restaurants for lunch - we chose Rene Café, close to the Cathedral. Rene's is a lovely small eatery, so the service is really good. When we arrived, we asked for the menu and basically it just said 'lunch' $10.. so we... More

Great food at an amazing deal! We got the lunch option for dinner and I still couldn't finish everything. Wine was good, food was great, service was great.

Love the one room restaurant: kitchen and seating all together. They were helpful when we asked for a vegetarian option. Good salad to start served with bread and a flavored butter. The owner presides over the dining room and works to ensure that you are happy. The place comes with a attentive old cat who guards the door. Sweet!

We love this restaurant. It is very small- maybe seats 20 and you do feel like you are in Rene's home with the kitchen taking a good part of the 1 room. Meals in Panama City are so reasonable. Here they offer a 6 course meal ($25 each), served family style, with tapa size portions for everything except the entrees.... More
