For dinner they have a six course menu for $22.50. I actually think they brought out about ten courses of which two were fair to good. If you want quantity rather than quality in a fairly nice setting this is the place. I can complain about the service, the price or the setting but dishes were, with two exceptions, mediocre... More

My husband and I had heard glowing reviews about this restaurant...not too say that it was terrible, however, I would not recommend going to Manolo Carocol first as you will be bitterly disappointed. The food was mediocre at best. We had the price fix menu which was nice, you don't have to think about what to order but the ingredients... More

Quaint, small cafe, rather un impressive, we watched people look in and walk away... Their loss. Service is quick and precise, red wine was warm, but quickly cooled when requested. Food, was amazing. Every bite was wonderful. Prix fix menu,$22.00, more than we could eat, make sure you try Rene's. More

The atmosphere of the place is welcoming, with an open kitchen and friendly staff. More importantly for me, the place is reasonable and has delicious, if simple, food. Even though it was dinnertime, I ordered the lunch prix fixe for $8.50. It began with a delicious and refreshing homemade salad. Next I had a wonton stuffed with a type of... More

Then location is great. The menu looks terrible and almost put me off from staying 'show us your backpack'! But I'm glad I did stay. The food was delicious, 6 different starters, followed by rice with snapper, pork and chicken. Almost too much in fact! But all tasted great and amazing value @$22.50 plus tax of course. The waiter needs... More

We walked on the boardwalk from Multi-Plaza Mall to Rene Cafe so we headed straight there after reading the reviews. We arrived early enough to have a table outside. The view was great and the meal ended up being very good. We would go back as Casco Viejo is my favorite area in Panama City. More

The cool air conditioning and friendly staff were very inviting after a morning of tromping around in 93 F heat and humidity. It was quite clean. I liked being about to see the staff working behind the counter. The table cloths were a nice touch. We also enjoyed the food. There were a number of different items that came with... More

We had a great 5 course dinner at Cafe Rene. The food was delicious and plentiful. All you need to tell them is what you don't want. The meal was all fresh, local and Panamanian. What more could you ask for. More

I just returned after a 20 day visit to Panama City and this was the highlight of all my dinner choices. They bring 6 or 7 courses (a set menu, you may not choose) for a reasonable price. Their wine menu is well-planned. I enjoyed everythin (even octopus en brochette) and would love to return. More
