We informed our driver that we were hungry and he brought us to Mi Ranchito. It's a thatched open air building that cooks up local seafood and looks over a harbor for a great skyline view of Panama City. I had the garlic shrimp with coconut rice and coconut water (cold and clear) to drink. Seemed to be a mix... More

A mystique arises among short term expats and visitors about this place. Some rave...most have never been there, but it "sure looks interesting." It is unfortunate but typical that some of the best situated places have the worst food and service. Mi Ranchito and the Balboa Yacht Club share the same issues. There location is either waterside or superb view...but... More

Our driver recommended Mi Ranchito on our first night in Panama City. A short cab ride ($6) from our hotel (La Estancia) in the Cerro Ancon area. Located at the beginning of the Amadoro Causeway, the casual, thatched roof main building is open to the breeze, which was a relief in hot and humid Panama City. Seafood is the mainstay... More

Admittedly there were 30 of us at 3 tables but it's a huge dreary restaurant with insufficient poorly trained staff, miserable food and just the pits for service. There are plenty of other restaurants in the area and you've probably had to take a cab to get to this one. So check your guide books before choosing Mi Ranchinto. They... More

We were staying at La Estancia B&B and they recommended Mi Ranchito - excellent choice. It's a casual restaurant and the dining area is open on 3 sides so we could enjoy the evening breeze. The food was excellent Panamian cuisine and we ended up there again a few nights later because we enjoyed our first meal so. We opted... More

been there several times over the years, however last week it was not as good as usual. we'll accept that any restaurant can have a day with a mistake, so will try it again, since their almejas al ajillo used to be awesome. but you can't beat the location, great views on the water both sides of the restaurant.

The local fish, corvina, with creole sauce is excellent. Great location in the causeway. Service was ok. We ate here twice. I would highly recommend it.

My favorite restaurant in Panama City is Mi Ranchito a few Kilometers from land out at sea on the Amador Causeway. First of all, what a splendid setting - there is a fresh sea breeze and you are far from the noise of the crowded city. If you enjoy walking you can park or have your taxi driver drop you... More
