The main view was blocked by hurricane shields. If you stand on the tips of your toes you can see a wonderful view of the city of Panama across the Panama Canal inlet. When seated, you can see a marina, but nothing beyond the storm shields. The food was tasteful. But for vegetarians, it is questionable what is in the... More

We came to this restaurant on a Tuesday night and waited for 30 minutes. Seafood was quite good - almeja a la criolla and norteno are must. Service was good. We tried beers from local breweries and they were ok.

This has got to be my favorite restaurant in Panama. The food is delicious, ambience is casual but cute under this big hut and with nice views (although it's now blocked by construction) and the prices are great. We always order the almejas al ajillo (clams with garlic sauce), corvina frita or al ajillo (grilled filet or fried whole fish),... More

We had a long layover in Panama and hired a guide to take us to lunch and site seeing. We were hungry so we asked to do lunch first. She must have had a kickback because this place is about 45 minutes from the airport on the other side of the city. Learning moment here – do your research so... More

I've been here on several occasions and it's a great place to have traditional Panamanian dish in a historical part of town. Not historical in the sense that the Spaniards or the Colombians went to battle but more so that this area the Causeway once was inhabited by the US military and also housed several Smithsonian scientists. It is now... More

I a repeat visitor, the service has declined immensely. We order appetizers before our meal. Of the appetizers we ordered they didn't have one and the substitute was of their choice. The beer was hot and when I ask to replace it and all they did was placed my old beer in ice for a minute. I will not come... More

Mi Ranchito is just a typical Panamanian restaurant with common, nothing out of the ordinary menu, with basic meats, fish and seafood dishes, at reasonable prices. Totally unsophisticated to the point of being a tourist attraction due to its location, by the Pacific entrance to the Canal. The entrees are usually accompany by a salad, and most of the time,... Everything I ate was awesome. The best fish ceviche I've ever had, the Corvina al Ajillo was so tasty, we had "Arañitas" (fried squid) which were very good, the ambiance is outdoorsy, weekend nights they have live music, in a 5 day holiday we ate here twice. it is a bit out of the way. It's in the Causeway which... More

So disappointing! We placed a simple order--a mediocre/bad daiquiri and a beer were delivered, followed by an app. Very so so. But, hungry, we decided to order something else. We waited. And waited. And waited. Our server passed several times and managed to avoid eye contact with us several times. Then disappeard for good. Afer some time passed, we approached... More

I would not rate this high on my lists of restaurants to visit in Panama City, but if you're making your way out the Causeway and want to sample Panamanian food, this isn't a bad option. There is a main dining area and a series of little thatched-roof umbrella tables outside. Service wasn't great and the food was basically average.... More
