Yes, Spotykach really be proud! With such care together under one cover the most famous culinary hits of the Soviet era have not for everyone. Here is what restaurant critics over the years will be called "Ukrainian cuisine of the Soviet period," and the mere process of reading the menu is wild appetite. Salad leaves traditional herring under a fur coat, Olivier, Mimosa Capital, salad with beans and a dozen names. Then begins an even more pleasant discoveries. Take, for example, herring with anchovies on potatoes with onions or perch with mushrooms, fried pancakes. Sated fangled delights metropolitan restaurants audience inevitably return to the simple joys that are certain to become trump card Spotykach.

I always prefer local fare when traveling and this was one of the best experiences I have had. The location is convenient (a five minute walk from Independence Square - 2 minutes from the Intercontinental). The staff couldn't be more friendly. (We were offered a sample of their home made vodka on arrival, and a parting gift of sunflower seeds... More

Good Ukrainian staples in a quirky 1950's Soviet atmosphere. The borscht was excellent and the horseradish vodka is a must-try. Try to go on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday for live traditional music.

This is a Ukrainian restaurant with good food and good service, and the decor is interesting. But compared with the other three or four really GOOD Ukrainian restaurants in Kiev I didn't think it was so special. The prices are high and with the salads and borscht I had the portions were not big. So ok, but in my opinion... More

This was our favorite restaurant in Kiev. I'm interested in Soviet iconography and this fit the bill to a tee. Spotykach is a fun place with good borscht and a friendly, helpful staff. Nikita Khrushchev greets you as you pass iron doors with a corncob motif. Inside, you'll enjoy cozy surroundings replicating the Soviet era. It's a crazy form of... More

Typical Ukrainian menu - lots of veal. Full of Soviet memorabilia. Most diners were tourists or young professionals. Service was helpful (best we experieinced in Ukraine).

I always take first-time visitors to Kie here. Well-executed Ukrainian standards (borshch, Chicken Kiev) and some surprises (blood sausage, zucchini pancakes) in Krushchev-era surroundings.
