The location is pretty good - in the historical center of the city near all touristic facilities, but all the rest about the place has almost disappointed me. The food is not quite Ukrainian, I would rather call it soviet which is very special, and not for everyone. It was normal but i felt the overcooked oil taste in some... More

Food is the focus here, not the setting. The menu is very creative and aims at "molecular gastronomy" - eg borscht soup frozen in a Popsicle, dumplings in the colours of the Ukraine flag. Located in the city centre. Oddly, was empty on the Sunday lunchtime we visited.

This is a big favourite of mine in Kiev. Really tasty dishes. Some are traditional, most are traditional dishes with a modern twist. Can't express how much i love this place. It has fantastic service, as said the food is excellent and the prices are very low, considering the quality offered. A copiuos meal with salmon on bruschetta, herring op... More

Good, polite service, with staff speaking English. The seating is in booths, so quite intimate and no neighbours sitting right on top of you. The restaurant offers both traditional Ukranian dishes as well as 'modern' versions of some dishes. A novel way of serving some dishes as well.......roast shin served on a shovel! The shin was, according to my husband... More

Food is very good, and tasty. Sat outside on a pleasant summer mid-week evening. Was quite empty though and not much ambiance. Staff were nice and attentive. Price is not low. Not quite sure what is the theme (modern soviet meets western pop?)

For me it was "Back in USSR" evening. Food incredible, service very welcomed, atmosphere great (USSR, I told), prices for us, as tourist normal (actually, when I compare the price with Israeli they low). Really ukraine cuisine, as I still remember from me home. Like, like and like. If you in Kiev - go! Otherwise, why you go to Kiev?.... More

Reading the great reviews, decided to try this place for dinner. Food was all pretty average. Started with potato dumplings and pancakes, followed by stroganoff (too creamy!), and mini chicken Kiev on a bed of noodles (not at all nice). Cake for desert I didn't even finish, wasn't tasty! No locals here, only foreign tourists, staff do speak good English.... More

If you want to be sure you will be served Ukranian dishes Spotykach is the place to go. The prices for wester-europeans are very reasonable. You should definatly try Salo!

The atmosphere is old Soviet style blended with modern kitsch. When you walk into this restaurant (located at vul Volodymyrska 16 in Kiev - closest Metro stop is ), you see modern art infused with old subjects and themes. You instantly feel welcomed by the staff. You are offered juice infused shots in tiny shot glasses as you enter (ours... More
