"We started 13 years ago, on 27 February 1999, with an idea. We tried to keep this idea intact and even to improve it day by day. Because of you, our clients are most important to us, like I was the most important person for my mother when I came home for dinner. If we made it this far in 13 years, we owe this to our clients, that make us become better every day and we owe this to our 500 people team.I want to thank all my regular customers and to all those who have stood by us in these 13 years. I thank you because we exist. We owe this to you."Catalin Mahu - La mama

Good restaurant, fair prices

It is a restaurant net in Bucharest. I am reffering at La Mama on Delea Veche street. Eat fast cooked food in lunch time. Don't forget for 'tort de biscuiti', one of my favorite sweet/desert, made from biscuits, chocolate and rum flavour!

There's something a bit off putting about a restaurant that has cigarettes on the menu, but none the less the food and beer were good, although not memorable. We ate here on the recommendation of our Viking cruise staff, shortly after arriving in Bucharest fresh off the long flight from the US. Given our general jet lag and exhaustion, I... More

The food is average, the prices are ok, the staff is ok. It's not a place for gourmet people, just a place where you eat if you're hungry.

Went here one year ago. Ordered one of the sausage dishes and were delivered a massive plate of food. I could not hope to finish it all! Ambience is a little stuffy perhaps, and it's a little dark due to all the wood panelling, but that was a reason to pick this place; it feels quite traditional (without knowing what... More

The cigarette smoke hits you first, then you remember you're in Southeastern Europe, where nonsmoking areas are novelties. This restaurant's nonsmoking area seemed virtually nonexistent with the fumes drifting from other rooms. Our dishes were well prepared and reminded us of our grandparents own recipes. The wait staff were attentive and quickly figured out ways to communicate across languages.

Used to be one of the best restaurants in Bucharest, no more since a couple of years when it turned into a franchise. Average tasting food, awful services, prices a bit higher than other restaurants of the same category.

I was last autumn for the first time at "La mama", just out of curiosity, but then I returned during the 1st of May this year with my friends because I simply love it. The atmosphere is a nice one, it can be found in the center of Bucharest which makes it easy to be reached, they have a variety... More

Been here several times and for sure I will go again with friends or colleagues when we want to eat and have no time to waste. Food is good, nothing fancy; quality and service are constant good for years and this is quite good in a place like Bucharest. Go for local soups and second courses but also the international... My wife and I went to La Mama on our first night in Bucharest, intent on trying out a variety of Romanian foods. The place had been recommended to us by our Uniworld River Cruise representative. Since our goal was to try a variety of Romanian foods, we ordered two appetizers, two soups, two mains, and dessert. Unlike many Americans,... More

It’s a good place to have a lunch or dinner. There are sufficient items on the menu (Romanian food) and the prices are average. The service is ok. All in all the restaurant is ok, but nothing extraordinary.
