Real Zagreb

This is real Zagreb food in a real Zagreb atmosphere. I highly recommend the hearty and flavorful Lungic na zaru - a grilled pork loin also available filled with ham & cheese. Seriously good food and service.

I have been traveling around Croatia and Slovenia. This was the most expensive and least pleasant meal of all. Confusing and unclear menu, no allergenic highlights, wifi just didn't work at all, no beer variety, food way bellow expected by restaurant's looks and the price was shocking: for much less than that I had a superior meal in a restaurant... I ate at Stari fijaker several times, because it is a great choice if you want to have a tasteful meal served very fast. I love their 'sarma' and baked duck with 'mlinci', as it reminds me of my grandmother's kitchen. The location is nicely and authentically decorated, and all the staff is really kind, helpful and experienced. Don't miss... More

A little bit on too much “old and traditional”, one more level of modern would not hurt it. It has heavy and traditional food, so this place is more for people who like to “eat more”, taste is old and heavy mostly.

There was nothing wrong with Stari Fijaker, but we just didn't have a very memorable meal. The grilled mushrooms appetizer was good, but was just a plate of mushrooms drowning in butter. My 'Beef Stew Dalmatia Style' wasn't really stew, just some beef with gravy on a plate with gnocchi on the side. I figured a stew would at least... More

We went here looking for authentic Croatian cuisine and while the dishes offered on the menu are authentic, we felt like each dish was so heavily salted that it was hard to notice any other flavor. The exception was the strukli; it was very good!

Variety of local dishes prepared in original home made way. Everything we eat - from bread, pastries, meat and dessert was fresh and home made, like at "grandma's house". Recommended: venison stew with home made gnocchi. Extremelly good value for money.

Had dinner there yesterday with my wife. She's from Croatia but never lived there. All the dinner she was having those "madeleine de proust" moments while eating her sarma! Food was very tasty and also it's not a rip off. 2 beers and 2 enormous dishes for 150kn only. Very friendly staff, with very good advices, recommended us what to... More

Another great local restaurant found in the heart of Zagreb. If you're looking for some nice local dishes for a decant price than this is a great option. Service was excellent and as we sat down we were welcomed and received local cheese with garlic and ham and freshly baked bread. The meat was very good, we had an excellent... More

Place had a warm decor and the food was good-value. Menu selection was huge (which is a bad sign sometimes) but the food tasted fresh and seemed like local home-cooking. Pretty cheap as well, probably less than 200 kunas for two people.
