There was nothing wrong with Stari Fijaker, but we just didn't have a very memorable meal. The grilled mushrooms appetizer was good, but was just a plate of mushrooms drowning in butter. My 'Beef Stew Dalmatia Style' wasn't really stew, just some beef with gravy on a plate with gnocchi on the side. I figured a stew would at least... More

We went here looking for authentic Croatian cuisine and while the dishes offered on the menu are authentic, we felt like each dish was so heavily salted that it was hard to notice any other flavor. The exception was the strukli; it was very good!

Variety of local dishes prepared in original home made way. Everything we eat - from bread, pastries, meat and dessert was fresh and home made, like at "grandma's house". Recommended: venison stew with home made gnocchi. Extremelly good value for money.

Had dinner there yesterday with my wife. She's from Croatia but never lived there. All the dinner she was having those "madeleine de proust" moments while eating her sarma! Food was very tasty and also it's not a rip off. 2 beers and 2 enormous dishes for 150kn only. Very friendly staff, with very good advices, recommended us what to... More

Another great local restaurant found in the heart of Zagreb. If you're looking for some nice local dishes for a decant price than this is a great option. Service was excellent and as we sat down we were welcomed and received local cheese with garlic and ham and freshly baked bread. The meat was very good, we had an excellent... More

Place had a warm decor and the food was good-value. Menu selection was huge (which is a bad sign sometimes) but the food tasted fresh and seemed like local home-cooking. Pretty cheap as well, probably less than 200 kunas for two people.

We only stayed in Zagreb one night due to the weather, but had we stayed longer we would have come back. There were so many appetizing options on the menu we had to ask for help from the delightfully gruff waiter. He pointed us towards the Pasticada (?) and the Venison stew, and he was bang on. The stew was... More

Our waiter made recommendations for the appetizer which was a meat platter. For our main we had the combination of meats stew which was very tasty. We enjoyed a recommended bottle of wine. Service was very good.

It looks like an old style restaurant but worth eating there - had a lot of dishes but the friendly waiter pointed out the most traditional ones, food very tasty and in large portion - good place to go for dinner if you only have one night in zagreb

We asked the hotel staff for suggestions of where to get authentic regional food. So we went to Stari Fjaker and were immensely pleased with our meal. We began with Zagorski Strukli, cottage cheese in a warm, light dough -- excellent! For our entree, both of us ordered the Slavonian Cobanac, a stew with four different types of meat and... More
