Le Bistro has a strong heritage and history as the city's culinary innovator. Opened in 1986, as a small French type of restaurant, Le Bistro immediately took an important place in the everyday life of the capital. It was the first restaurant with the glass roof. Le Bistro hostesses were the first in town to wear silk uniforms. Also, Le Bistro was the first place where wine and champagne were served per glass. It is interesting that Le Bistro first served little chocolate with the coffee, and in 1989 Le Bistro was the first place in Croatia to serve the famous Italian dessert tiramisu and celebrate Valentine's Day. Today, this charming renovated restaurant is home to the legendary 'Esplanade Strukli' - traditional dish of Zagreb region - and the best in town! Le Bistro offers light breakfast, excellent coffee, awarded cakes, croissants, Menu du jour at just 19 EUR (3-course menu per Chef's choice with glass of house wine, coffee or tea), seasonal a la carte menu - available on App store for download and weekly promotional menus. Enjoy Le Bistro during breakfast, lunch or dinner inside or on the green terrace. Open every day from 9 am - 11 pm

Unexpected value in a posh hotel

Let Bistro Esplanade comes in at probably a tenth the price of their fancy restaurant. They have a prefix 3 course meal daily for 20 euros which includes wine and dessert. We had main course chicken saltimbocca and it was delicious. The dessert was decadent and more than we could finish. The dining... read more

Staff were friendly and courteous we felt like family. Menu was great, salads were the best we found in Zagreb and the wine selection has many local and regional gems.

We had dinner at Le Bistrot. The setting is very nice, it's worth looking around a little bit at the hotel. For dinner we had the tuna tartare, which was nice but not the haute cuisine we expected. Nice wines and very professional, still friendly service.

We were staying at the Esplanade hotel and decided to eat at the Bistro. Found that they offered a complete dinner with appetizer, dessert and wine for 20 euros. Each dish was delicious and so was the wine. Will probably go back this week.

Had a Ceasar salad and a traditional Croatian dish - strukli. VERY good. However, be careful where you sit. If it's sunny in the area you sit in OR if you're on the side of the restaurant where the windows have no shade from the trees outdoors - be aware you my sweat and swelter. Even the well dressed local... More

The food at the bistro is excellent. The service was very high quality. The prices were high for Croatia but it is in a luxury hotel so keep that in mind.

Having had an amazing experience the night before at its fine dining option inside the hotel Esplanade, we thought we would try it's more causal sister restaurant. It was just as amazing! I had the artichoke salad with aged Parmesan cheese, truffle and rocket for starter and curry monk fish cheek with bean sprout and sautéed spinach. My husband had... More

Good menu, excellent service and interesting wine list. Sat outside but both options available, located right beside the Esplanade Hotel so easy to find.

So sorry to have to write a negative review of this restaurant, because we had great hopes based on other reviews. Unfortunately our dinner was so heavy and stodgy that I was awake for two hours in the middle of the night with indigestion. The service was excellent, however, the same could not be said for the food
