Description: Le Bistro has a strong heritage and history as the city's culinary...
Le Bistro has a strong heritage and history as the city's culinary innovator. Opened in 1986, as a small French type of restaurant, Le Bistro immediately took an important place in the everyday life of the capital. It was the first restaurant with the glass roof. Le Bistro hostesses were the first in town to wear silk uniforms. Also, Le Bistro was the first place where wine and champagne were served per glass. It is interesting that Le Bistro first served little chocolate with the coffee, and in 1989 Le Bistro was the first place in Croatia to serve the famous Italian dessert tiramisu and celebrate Valentine's Day.

Today, this charming renovated restaurant is home to the legendary 'Esplanade Strukli' - traditional dish of Zagreb region - and the best in town!

Le Bistro offers light breakfast, excellent coffee, awarded cakes, croissants, Menu du jour at just 19 EUR (3-course menu per Chef's choice with glass of house wine, coffee or tea), seasonal a la carte menu - available on App store for download and weekly promotional menus.

Enjoy Le Bistro during breakfast, lunch or dinner inside or on the green terrace.

If you have high expectations, you are at the wrong place and my expectations were based on reviews I found here. Atmosphere and staff are great and food was just OK, but just OK if not what one would expect from this kind of place, especially considering the price tag and the Esplanade hotel's reputation. Notch up the food and... More

Attractively decorated with lots of natural light, this is our normal choice for eating whenever we stay at the Esplanade. For this stay, we ate here twice. Our first meal was a light late lunch on Christmas Eve. I was not lucky with my main, the salmon trout with creamy quinoa was definitely overcooked and I sensed that it had... More

Beautiful well appointed bistro that is part of the Esplande Hotel in Zagreb. The food is good and reasonably price, and the service is excellent. Le Bistro stays open until 11:00 p.m. so if you are out wandering around the town in the evening you can still catch a meal later in the evening.

I've dined at the Bistro numerous times while staying at the Esplanade. It is a casual but refined spot with a mix of Croatian and French-inspired dishes. The food is generally good -- I enjoyed the beef tartar on my last visit, and have enjoyed the Strukli on past occasions. Service has always been attentive. A very good choice for... More

The ambience is fantastic. The dessert especially the white chocolate is a must try! The service given by the staff is exceptionally excellent especially by Tomislav Klisanian. Very friendly and attentive guy. Will definitely return in my next visit to Zagreb! Thumbs up!

Didn't have a reservation however staff were very accommodating with fitting us in. Excellent service and very friendly also. Great menu and wine to choose with helpful recommendations from the staff. Great for couples or small groups with nice atmosphere especially during the Christmas season.

Nothing particularly wrong with our meal here, but nothing outstanding. The food, decor and service are all a little too big hotel-like for my tastes. They do have a very cool wine decanter, which our server was excited to use on a red wine that had no need for decanting.

This is the second time I've been to Zagreb and stayed at the Esplanade, eaten at the Bistro. The service was impeccable both times, and the food good: zesty with a good combination of European/Mediterranean and a few options for Croatian traditional dishes.
