"Restaurant AGAVA" - a place where fine dining truly meets a casual atmosfere. This is very special place, a bit hidden, a bit shy...A classic Italian restaurant filled with subtle dark colours and distinctive lightning. Wide windows provide an unique view, and in spring and summer the green terrace will attract you immediately. The restaurant was opened in 2005. It is runned by Belizar Milos (owner/partner) who is also the main chef, responsible for many mediterranean delices and beyond. So, come to the number 39 of Tklaciceva street... It'll take you 39 staircases to come to your little hiding place.

So good - we went twice!

Agava is situated on a busy tourist street full of bars and eateries at the edge of the old town. It is clear from the outset that it stands head and shoulders above most of what is on offer in the other near by establishments. We ate here twice and both evenings the food was excellent. We ate here on our first night in Croatia. The staff was very friendly with good recommendations for food and wine. We had an excellent meal and wouldn't hesitate to return again. The price was very reasonable.

Food was very good and tasty. The service was impeccible. Nicely furnished restaurant. All in all: a winner which should make for a good night out.

Was walking around Zagreb's central area looking at restaurants, many "traditional" and pizza, Agave looked interesting and had table cloths so took a chance, turns out Agava was noted in our tour book as "one of the better" restaurants. Had an appetizer of foccacia with anchovies and goat cheese, unique and great. Dinner dishes were well cooked and very tasty.

Very nice seating on terraces above street level. Very friendly service and good wine advice. The octopus was healthy to eat and great flavours - it looks just the same as on the pictures. Good experience!

I ordered the oxtail soup which looked like chicken noodle soup and ended up tasting like hot water, they exchanged it for French onion soup which tasted like it was made out of the same broth but at least the cheese was tasty. Then I ordered dick breast. This was the most over cooked duck I have ever had. It... More

Bistro Agava is located in a nice pedestrian street of the old Zagreb. The food was excellent. Because the weather was very hot, I've chosen to eat risotto or pasta (I've gone there twice). Everything was very tasty and original (risotto with crab or pasta with shrimps and black pork). The menu proposes also a broad choice of starters, meat,... More

The poor waiter was run ragged as it was extremely busy and their was a lack of other staff. The outside terrace is also on a different level to the restaurant, so he was constantly running up and down stairs. Add the heat, and he was literally dripping with sweat, which wasn't his fault, but also isn't pleasant when he... More

Agava has been a staple for my wife and I to eat at when we visit Zagreb over the past 5 years. It has a wonderful location and ambiance overlooking Tchalcheva walking street. However, the last couple of times we have gone we have been disappointed in the food and service. Still a great restaurant, but just not the 5*... More
