These is one of two same named restaurants, both in Sofia, Bulgaria. The old and gorgous Red House is situated at 33, Parchevich Str.
If you are one of those curious travellers who prefer to walk through smaller, narrow streets, you will hardly miss Chervenata Kashta (the Red House).
It is indisputably a big red house, which stands out from the rest of the houses and buildings around it. It is one of the oldest preserved houses in Sofia, recognized as a cultural monument. During summer the garden of the Red House is simply fantastic! Luckily the tables are big enough, because it will not be easy to pick one dish only! The food is delicious and the menu is very rich. The Red House serves also pizza baked in a charcoal oven and many vegetarian dishes. There is a good selection of fresh fish to choose from.
Everyweek (from 8 pm on) you can enjoy the delicious meals of the house while listening to live music - very 'live' and very entertaining because the performers are passionate proffessionals in a different styles of music.
The Red House really wants you to feel as relaxed as at home...And loves the little ones too! In fact they have a small 'children's restaurant' where the kids can play, draw and socialize.

Quite expensive, disappointing quality

We were five people here in late December 2015. The menu is extensive, but you need to know what they do well in order to make a worthwhile choice. From our experience, that would limit you to the grilled items and perhaps pizzas, since all our other choices were disappointing, in particular the... read more

There are some nice picks in the menu, like the octopus, several types of mussels and river fish. Wine selection is reasonable but unreasonably pricey. Service is generally good. Very nice garden in close proximity to Vitosha boulevard

This was the first restaurant my husband and I tried while in Bulgaria for a week. The service was great, the food was good, and the location was within walking distance to our hotel. We hadn't tried any Bulgarian food up to this point, so we could only base it on the taste, which was very good. However, having tried... More

We recently went to this place in the heart of Sofia. And was quite disappointed. The garden is ok but the food is expensive and not tasty. The crunchy chicken fingers were not crunchy at all, the chips were generously covered with black pepper and the salad was not fresh. The rakia that we ordered was good but because they... More

We went there because it was near to our hotel and we happily surprised from the decor and afterwards from the food. We trusted the waiter and we ate very very well. Do not miss the beef stake with pepper sauce and the chips (French fries)

Nothing is special about this place. Food is good, prices are a bit steep. Prime location, but nothing else.

The Red House is a nice little "Ruby" right off the famous Vitosha Blvd. It is cozy and clean, reminds me of sitting in a Babushka's dinning room. The fried Bulgarian cheese was a good match with the classic Shopka salad, the order of bread was a pleasant surprise together with the scrambled eggs and roasted vegetables. The espresso topped...
