This was a spontaneous lunch stop on the main boulevard by the port. We were delighted with the menu and food quality as well as the cocktail list and service. Our waitress was friendly & helpful, even though we didn't speak much French. We ended up with an outstanding lunch of tuna sashimi and shrimp pasta. It was so nice... More

I ordered an endive and Roquefort cheese salad. Much to my surprise I was presented with a large place with a whole head of some leafy lettuce Generous pieces of cheese, crispy leaves of endives, and some quartered tomatoes, for color, was tastefully arranged among the leaves. The salad was expensive but the plate looked like a piece of art... More

Le Retro has a good location by the waterfront/harbour in Papeete. Close to a taxi stand, which is convenient when you want to go back to your hotel. Also close to the market and shops. They have out-door seating. We had lunch here twice during our stay on Tahiti. Good and efficient service. The food was good but not excellent.... More

The café allowed us to sit down with our luggage when we were waiting for our coach trip at lunchtime and we were very grateful. The wait staff speak a little English. I approached the owner of the café and said in limited French do you speak English and he said no in a very arrogant manner and I said... More

The service was great, but the dishes were pretty bland. They were also pretty expensive, like most restaurants in Tahiti, which made it not worth the money.

We visited Le Retro during our 7 hour layover in Papeete. As it is located right along the harbor, it is a great setting for happy hour cocktails and dinner. They specialize in variations on the Mojito, and I enjoyed the hand-muddled version with fresh ginger very much. We also had fresh grilled mahi mahi, and fresh tuna poisson cru... More

Only restaurant open on Bastille Day weekend. Watched World Cup finals with locals, discovered outstanding local Tabu beer (600 xpf) and excellent poisson cru (2350 xpf). Avoid Parfait de Foie, but salad was okay (2450 xpf). Champagne not worth 1900 xpf. Attentive waitstaff, central location on main blvd. Great people watching with view of quay waterfront while you adjust to... More

We had dinner at La Retro on a Friday night. Our first concern was finding seats away from the band. Our next challenge was trying to find somethng on the menu for vegetarians and there was nothing which turned out to be not uncommon in Papeete. However, our food was tasty but again, like most restaurants in Papeete, more expensive... More

Had lunch here while walking around searching for a restaurant. Very fast service and clean look. On the main road out-skirting town and has a view of the marina. Has mist sprayers to keep you cool. You can eat inside or outside. I recommend the burger a little small so I had two which they grilled up the second one... More

So I ordered the $800 CFP (approx $10 NZD) green salad as I thought it would be great to eat some fresh vege. If I could upload a photo here I would so, so you too can laugh hysterically at my 'green salad' ......oh wait I can....a picture says a thousand words......I'll let you see for yourself what this place...
