Only restaurant open on Bastille Day weekend. Watched World Cup finals with locals, discovered outstanding local Tabu beer (600 xpf) and excellent poisson cru (2350 xpf). Avoid Parfait de Foie, but salad was okay (2450 xpf). Champagne not worth 1900 xpf. Attentive waitstaff, central location on main blvd. Great people watching with view of quay waterfront while you adjust to... More

We had dinner at La Retro on a Friday night. Our first concern was finding seats away from the band. Our next challenge was trying to find somethng on the menu for vegetarians and there was nothing which turned out to be not uncommon in Papeete. However, our food was tasty but again, like most restaurants in Papeete, more expensive... More

Had lunch here while walking around searching for a restaurant. Very fast service and clean look. On the main road out-skirting town and has a view of the marina. Has mist sprayers to keep you cool. You can eat inside or outside. I recommend the burger a little small so I had two which they grilled up the second one... More

So I ordered the $800 CFP (approx $10 NZD) green salad as I thought it would be great to eat some fresh vege. If I could upload a photo here I would so, so you too can laugh hysterically at my 'green salad' ......oh wait I can....a picture says a thousand words......I'll let you see for yourself what this place... After 2 weeks of overindulgence, this is just what we needed- good healthy food and a bonus of great, friendly service! We originally intended to just have a glass of wine here and then go to the roulettes, but we we were impressed with the French table wine-$9.00 for a carafe and the appearance of the food being served, so... Just a few blocks walking distance from the Ferry Terminal (From Moorea) this sidewalk cafe was just what we needed on the last night of our vacation - Cold beer, an excellent grilled seafood combo, and fast, courteous service. The waiter placed our luggage safely within our reach, but out of the way, and then explained the choices (in good... More

If you are not staying in Tahiti, you will be faced with wasting a day Pappete for your flight back to the states...you will be tired of black pearls, Tahitian prints and wooden men....find a place to plop and people watch. This is a good one. Service was GREAT, the best we had all week! She even spoke a little... More

You will meet a lot of fellow tourists, as well as locals here for the beer, I can recommend it for those reasons. Also it may be the only place on the waterfront open (with the Three Brasseurs), depending on the hour you want to dine. My beers were just fine, it was a sunny day, the servers were first-rate,... This place just looks like your run of the mill sidewalk cafe, but the food was really exceptional! possibly the best possion cru of our whole trip and the club sandwhiches were awesome! highly recommended and great for people watching.

We arrived late on a Sunday, and walked from Fare Suisse down unfamiliar streets to find this, the (seemingly) ony restaurant that was open and serving a late dinner. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal of thin, very rare Ahi tuna slices with sides and Hinano beer. A good introduction to Papeete, and a restaurant we were to return to again... More
