Dance and Dine Polynesian Style

Royal Tahitien has a lovely location on the beach a short 7 minutes capride outtside Papeete centre. One of the last placed to eat outside while enjoying the view. The restaurant is one the very few on the waterfront and open to the trade winds. Built in the early '70's the roof is a spectacular example of Tahitian building craft of plaited pandanas fronds. A favorite of the locals for Sunday brunch featuring Tahitian fish salad served... Delicious cuisine on every occasion we dined here coupled with fantastic friendly service and a great location to top it off. The mains we had (entrecôte and fillet) were divine and beautifully presented. The waitress organised a side of baby potatoes for me even though they were not listed on the menu. My husband fancies himself a critic of frittes... More

When I first walked into the Royal Tahitien I thought it looked a decent enough establishment, which it is, but that's it. Perhaps it was maybe the time of day - early afternoon - it was very quiet (on both occasions I was there). The service was what you would expect, the view out to the bay was lovely but... More

Ok so when we first walked up to this place that was recommended by our hotel we were a bit skeptical. We were early but by the time we left the place was packed! All of the dishes were excellent! The tuna tar tar was as an appetizer was amazing and the portion was huge! The spring rolls were excellent... More

The buffet was ok not the greatest but the Oceanside table is nice on a black sand beach and it was particularly fun watching the locals dance to a live Tahitian band

Since we arrived too early to board our cruise, we decided to go here for breakfast and kill some time. Poisson Cru was on the breakfast menu and it was absolutely delicious. A huge amount of fresh fish was presented beautifully in half a coconut shell. The restaurant and hotel is set on beautifully manicured tropical grounds and the restaurant... More

There is no bad food in Tahiti --- there may be but we haven't found it yet. But the restaurant at Le Royal Tahitien is one of the best of all. As it is part of a hotel, it is also open on Sundays. Reservations for lunch on Saturdays and Sundays is certainly recommended. The atmosphere is unbeatable. During the... More

Lunch on a Saturday. Reservations recommended. Crowded with big tables full of locals. We had a table outside on the patio. Very nice view on the black sand beach. Refreshing breeze. Had a freshly squeezed pineapple juice and a "poisson cru au lait de coco". First time I experience such delicate presentation in Tahiti. Exceptional! The raw fish comes with... More
