We had only one day in Montevideo and were so fortunate to stumble upon this gem! It is only open for lunch and does not take credit cards - two important items to note up front. Expect an up close and personal dining experience as there is only counter service. Some restaurants charge a lot of money to dine at... More

We enjoyed a delicious lunch at Estrecho. We loved the fish soup as a starter. I had the fresh fish special, it was fresh and exceptionally well prepared. My husband had the beef filet which was tender and fired just right. The creme brule and white chocolate mouse were to die for. All this great food would be enough, but... More

What a nice surprise! The best meal I ever had in Montevideo for the past 11 months and by far. It was all there: Fine quality products, finesse of taste, innovation, service with a smile and the owners are in the kitchen. If you come by Montevideo, don't miss it...!

They use fresh fish and know how to grill it! Our best food experience in Montevideo. Lovely staff too.

This is the best restaurant of French cousine in Montevideo. Very competent chefs, great service at a very good price. The only thing is that no tables are available. We eat at the bench. A must go in Montevideo.

This is a very special restaurant in the sense that there are no tables, only a long bar. There is a limited number of main dishes including a suggestion of the chef. Lunch only. Still, you can have a three course lunch or a salad or a sandwich. We ate very well here. It's popular, both with office workers and... More

In downtown Montevideo you will find your best option for an incredible good meal (only lunch time!) in Estrecho, an all woman restaurant(with a "manly" exception), who serves the best possible food for a very reasonable price. It is worth a visit!

An excellent meal here. I was hesitant to go in because the menu seemed limited and nothing stood out to me. I wound up getting the baguette de lomo. I would have liked it to come with a side salad or some chips, as the sandwich alone was about U$12. But it was delicious. The meat was well cooked, complimented... More

A very small but nice place in the heart of town. Clean, tidy and staff are very friendly. While it is a little expensive, this place is worth the price. I ordered the filet mignon and wanted blue rare. The chef cooked it (so to speak) perfectly. The best job of blue rare I have had in years and the... More
