Yeah, so the location is nothing to speak of. It is in one of the nicer neighborhoods, a few blocks north of the Punta Carretas shopping area on a corner in a green unassuming building. Then again, that describes many of the "nicer" restaurants in the area. Don't let the quiet neighborhood or shabby decor turn you away. The restaurant... More

La Pulpería has become a hugely popular place because of three main factors: excellent asado; great, friendly service; and exceptional value. This place has never let me down, but get there early! The place opens at 8 pm and typically fills up all 20 or so seats within five minutes of opening. In the past, I preferred not to review... More

From outside, it seems a bar. Small and old. No frills, no tables, just tiny places for putting glasses and dishes. Full of young people, many standing waiting for a seat, not chairs. And a parrilla inside. Few options of food, but very tasty, good quantity and great price. Beer or 3 kinds of wine, I liked a lot the... More

This hole-in-the-wall grill offers some of Montevideo's best and most affordable beef. You can watch them cook your cut to perfection. The location is tiny so it is better to go when the weather is nice so you can sit outside.

Totally agree with all the reviews below but it's not emphasised enough that THEY DON'T TAKE CREDIT CARDS! Also, don't expect a posh evening, the place is very 'local' with only tables outside, when warm enough, everywhere else is on stools. Having said all that it's a great experience!

I was brought here by a local on my first night in Montevideo. I had no idea this place was ranked so highly on TA, but I completely understand why. This place has everything to be a crowd favourite. We sat at the bar and ordered a full array of items: provolone, chorizo, morcilla dulce, morcilla salada, mollejas, riñon, asado... More

Rustic but charming side-walk restaurant, with great food. One of the few places in Montevideo where you have to wait in line if you don't arrive before 8pm. The best meat, always cooked to order (which is not the case in many parrillas), large servings, attentive staff.

literally some of the best cuts of steak with an authentic atmosphere. its a hole in the wall with bar tables centered around a HUGE grill so it can be a more rushed meal/is always crowded. not to mention the best quality for the least $$ ive found in all of montevideo

One of the best rib-eye's I've ever had, cooked right in front of me on a coal fire. Sausages were also some of the best I've ever tasted, and let's not forget about the potatoes. Simply put, you can't go wrong with anything this establishment produces. I wanted to taste most of the menu after my first dining experience so... More

From the quality of the meets to the delectable sides, everything is first rate. The cuts of meat are out-of-this-world delicious and are cooked to perfection in a manner befitting the high-quality beef you get in Uruguay. Sausages are also delicious. One aspect that really sets this place apart are the incredible sides. The baked sweet potatoes al ajo are... More
