Having been in Argentina for the past week, we were looking for something other than steak, which can be a challenge in Uruguay. Not only did this boutique restaurant in Ciudad Vieja offer fish and chicken options, they were fresh and tasty, and prepared with imagination. The wine/drinks list featured mostly Uruguayan wines, but had the benefit of a wide... More

My sirloin topped with bernaise sauce was exquisite. You can't go wrong ordering a steak in this country.

Good food, but it is microwave heated, at least my and my colleague's lasagna. When first served it was cold in the middle. They heated it more and gave a slight discount but it left us with a less than ideal experience at an otherwise nice restaurant with friendly staff and cosy interior.

We were looking for a place where we could eat Italian after more than one month abroad. Dueto, a small and warm restaurant in the center of Montevideo, has been a good choice. Not too much choice on the menu (not always a negative thing) but pasta is delicious (gnocchi are handmade "on request"). In questo ristorante piccolo, intimo ed... More

We were disappointed by a midweek dinner here: the limited choice fixed menu provided some good food for a fair price, in what is quite an expensive city by the standards of the region. But what stood out was the gloomy atmosphere - very poor lighting - and the chilly reception from an unsmiling waitress; maybe with a different staff... More

As It was going to rain soon afte leaving the Solis, I decided to find a nearby modern urban restaurant. The plce is beautiful, the cuisine is very interesting but the service could have been better.

Visited on a quiet Monday night, the waitress was very nice, she didn't speak much English but tried very hard with us and as we don't speak Spanish was much appreciated. The overall look of the restaurant is very nice. Tried to order 2 different bottles of wine that were on the menu but not available before finally being given... More

Not exactly complicated, just done very well. The fish tasted fresh and the oil & herb was a just right accompaniment. The steak was flavorful, and the wine reduction sauce added just the right counterpoint. A little bit price, maybe 20% higher than other similar restaurants, but a much prettier restaurant with more panache, and still well below US prices... More

A wonderful choice for a romantic dinner. Not fussy or precious, but quietly friendly service and wonderful (and fast!) food. We chose the prix fixe dinner with a main and dessert, good value for the quality of food. If we had been more hungry, the three-course option is even more economical. The fish (a la plancha) was one of the... More

I arrived early and the place was empty. I ordered a shrimp, medium size, which tasted good...but they did not take the "booboo" out...I also ordered a foie gras, which I liked very much even through the egg that came together was a bit cold. Service was great!
