Good food, good service

The food is always fresh and usually takes some time so an appetizer is a good way to enjoy the wait. Prices are higher than most Montevideo restaurants but then so is the quality of the food and service. Great wine list, choices from small uruguayan winemakers.

We spent two weeks traveling in Buenos Aires (Argentina), Iguazu Falls, and Uruguay, and the best meal we had of the entire trip was at Restaurant Francis. We were early and were fortunate to get a table -- definitely would suggest making a reservation. The service was great and all in all it was a great culinary evening.

From the moment you walk in until the very last sip of a delicious wine, Francis offers the best of the best in Montevideo. The waiting service and the menu are amazing. Can't wait to go back before I leave.

I go to Francis Punta Carretas every time I visit Montevideo alone, with my wife or with my family. Warm ambient and fantastic service. The Merluza Negra (which I understand is the Patagonian toothfish) is absolutely wonderful. Last time on 1/14/2015, the owner, always present in the restaurant, accompanied me to the cab. I'll try the new Francis Carrasco next... More

We had a business dinner for 6 persons. .no waiter felt responsible for our table. I asked the owner for help. He then sent a sommelier who left an IPad with electronic wine list and disappeared... We managed to get food one hour later. Normal and overpriced. Salt, pepper, wine, water ...every single item even the bill was a long process... More

Probably is the best restaurant iin Montevideo, both Carrasco and Pocitos. Food quality is consisten, service is very professional, experience is very comfortable and great. it is expensive but is worthit. try the shrimp risotto or any of the fish preparation; sauces are incredible. Unfortunatelly the took the filet mignon out of the menu.

This expensive (overly expensive) restaurant had one good thing: great service! Both for food and wine, we got the right attention. However... the food doesn't match all these great reviews we found. Salad: no taste, I wonder about its quality as in a sunny land you are used to tasty vegetables. Ceviche: was actually a seafood salad. Probably done with... More

Not sure about the definition of sushi food for Francis, other than a few seafood offerings, but I'd rather describ it as a fusion of modern Mediterranean cuisine with South American touches. If one goes the red meat route (more high end with elaborate flavors than the more traditional and abundant meat parrillada feasts), it calls for a famous Uruguayan... More

My husband had great steak, I enjoyed the pasta, good wine, cubierto a bit expensive for what you eat, but not that bad. Good atmosphere. We didn't have reservation and the restaurant was full but fortunately we had a place. The sommelier was not so friendly but made a good suggestion. We recommend for couples.
