Great place on the water to dine

I like this place for the dining options. You can sit out front, inside, out on the deck, or tables set up on the lawn. The front faces La Rambla, the side and rear faces the water. Food was good, although there is a service charge that can make sitting for a glass of wine and an appetizer a bit... read more

Prompt service, nice sprawling location on the Rambla, inside and outside seating, uneventful but adequate menu.

Stopped in for a late lunch. Dining room was quiet, but nice. My husband had the spaghetti fruti de mar which was fresh and tasty. Lots of seafood in it!! I had the beef filet, tasty and lots of it. Reasonably priced with good & friendly service.

You must visit El viejo y el Mar if you want to eat sea food for a reasonable price. Don't bother on eating other things from the menu, you won't find them tasty enough. The ambience is great, you may dine in an open garden next to the coast. If you plan to dine there, be careful with mosquitoes. They’re... More

That's not the cleaner place to eay in Montevideo. The foot is regular minus. But it has a green open space for the kids to play in. I would suggest the place to eat a Milanesa Napolitana and a cold beer in one of their freezed glasses. I also would avoid their sea products since I had the chance to... More

Been eating here once a year for 7 years now, always get the lenguado in black butter and capers, and always enjoy it. Place is a bit pricy (especially the vino), but you can't beat the location for people watching or just relaxing on a hot afternoon in the chairs under the umbrellas.

Last evening, friends from the expat community went to the restaurant and received a bill for 1300 pesos. When paying with cash, the waiter then said that VAT (IVA here) is not included and the bill is 1800 with VAT. They paid and left, but then asked the expat group if this was correct. I went to the restaurant today... More

This is an overrated restaurant. There is no relationship between price and quality. You spend too much for poor cooking.

In the rambla, looking to the Plata a very humble decoration. Maybe a very good place to go in daylight and sunny day. I was there at night and found the restaurant almost empty. The food was nice, the price was average, the service ok.
