We found this by accident. We were looking for the #1 rated by Trip Advisor and no one had heard of it. Therefore, when asking a Tuktuk driver about it, we saw the sign for El Haucatay and went down the street to explore. You walk in and find a little garden retreat. You can eat outside but the tables... More

The Sacred Valley is a magical place. In the heart of this is an outstanding restaurant. El Huacatay is an excellent choice for its good and service. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, especially Carlo. As for the food, the Trout and the Quinua filled Ají were out of this World. That's a lot to say when you are... More

We loved El Huacatay's diverse menu! It was hard to chose what to get but we started with the lamb ravioli and chocolate sauce which was delicious and I had the peppers stuffed with quinoa and vegetables with melted Andrea brie on top- so good! My husband had the alpaca which he enjoyed too. Definitely worth a stop if you're... More

As a group we did not have the choice of restaurant while on tour. But choosing the El Huatacay restaurant, our tour operator took a very wise decision. Looking at the entrance of the restaurant, you cannot guess that you are bound for a delicious meal. The chef comes from Lima. You are served by staff speaking perfect english. (some... More

Not knowing where to eat - we left it to our van driver to take us to a good restaurant during our tour of the sacred valley. When he stopped in one of the back roads in Urubamba, we were doubtful - but it turned out to be the best food during our entire peru trip! The ambiance, presentation and... More

We went to El Huacatay at the recommendation of our hotel staff and did not expect to to find such a quality restaurant in this small town. The staff speaks fluent English, was extremely friendly and helpful and the food was excellent. They even offered local tour advice. While the restaurant excepts credit cards, take enough cash as the electricity... More

We ate at two very good restaurants in Urubamba, of a very high quality for such a small place el Huacatay was our first stop. It is literally behind an unmarked garden door. The inside of the restaurant is white washed walls with nice tables and attractive table settings. The food was plentiful and delicious. We next ate at Tres... More

Went here because of hotel concierge and staff recommendation, and wasn't disappointed. The server spoke fluent English and made excellent recommendations for food and drink according to what I liked! I didn't notice this until eating at many other restaurants later in Peru, but I think the price here is slightly higher than what other places offer. (It's still reasonable... More

Peruvian gnocchi with BBQ grilled chicken, a number of cooked veggies, red peppers, mushrooms, fried plataino chip on top Ina tastey light cream sauce. I had an Andean mint limo too. That was lunch. Going for a lighter meal tonight. I forgot to mention the potato leek soup with garlic mushrooms and mineral water con gas. All for $27 dollars... More
