Great Restaurant

We were recommended to eat here by friend and we were not disappointed. The food was great and reasonably priced and the atmosphere and service was very good. We would definitely recommend this restaurant to people travelling in Urubamba.

I sat with friends and watched as they finished the meals they had ordered and I sat with nothing. Totally poor service and no apology.

El Huacatay was a quick 10 minute walk from our hotel, the Tambo Del Inka. I would recommend reservations at this restaurant as it does get busy and it has the BEST food in Urubamba! We were a group of 8, 4 adults and 4 children. We had a combination of drinks, appetizers, vegetarian and meat entrees and dessert. The... More

We just finished a truly unique dinner at El Huacatay in Urubamba, Peru. Appetizers of coconut shrimp and fried mushroom ravioli were very good. Excellent choices (and a risk for us) were the Alpaca steak and alpaca lasagna. The side dishes included grilled pears in a brandy glaze and quinoa risotto. Those were fabulous. The place is hidden in the... More

We went to Huacatay based on the reviews of others and were not disappointed. I am not a "foodie" but close, and everything we ordered--apps, entrees, desert, wine--delivered consistent with the review. Price is a relative thing--I'm sure this is one of the more expensive meals in the area, which meant it came to $50 american for appetizers, two entrees,... More

A local gem. Shabby chic setting with an extensive menu of rich, local specialties - lamb, trout, pasta - and a good wine list. Although we didn't choose it, the special of the night sounded amazing: homemade lamb ravioli in a type of chocolate sauce. What we did have - salad with local cheeses, roasted salmon and a saucy lamb... More

after hearing this was the best resturaunt in the area we were pretty disappointed with the overall experience: 1. Coconut Shrimp appetizer was almost inedible 2. Potato leek soup was bland 3. Resturaunt was cold and filled with bugs and the waitress decided to put on a coat rather than address the issue 4. Music was weirdly depressing 5. Unnecessarily... More

After having stayed (and paid!) for some very good meals at very nice hotel properties in Cusco and Urubamba, we took a chance on our last meal in Peru and trusted in Tripadvisor and arrived a little early (about 10 minutes before El Huacatay officially opened. Our cab driver (senor Eduardo - he was truly a gentlemen and really took... More

We've gone there for several times and had excellent food. My favorites are trucha with quinoa, alpaca with quinotto and lomo saltado. The ambience is very nice, Highly recomiend!!!

After a vigorous hike down to town from Chincheros, this restaurant was perfect. Great shared appetizers, like carpaccio and ceviche, followed by wonderful fixed lunch menu. Freshly prepared, tasty and surprisingly sophisticated preparation make this place a winner.
