great restaurant

We went to Huacatay based on the reviews of others and were not disappointed. I am not a "foodie" but close, and everything we ordered--apps, entrees, desert, wine--delivered consistent with the review. Price is a relative thing--I'm sure this is one of the more expensive meals in the area, which... read more

A local gem. Shabby chic setting with an extensive menu of rich, local specialties - lamb, trout, pasta - and a good wine list. Although we didn't choose it, the special of the night sounded amazing: homemade lamb ravioli in a type of chocolate sauce. What we did have - salad with local cheeses, roasted salmon and a saucy lamb... More

after hearing this was the best resturaunt in the area we were pretty disappointed with the overall experience: 1. Coconut Shrimp appetizer was almost inedible 2. Potato leek soup was bland 3. Resturaunt was cold and filled with bugs and the waitress decided to put on a coat rather than address the issue 4. Music was weirdly depressing 5. Unnecessarily... More

After having stayed (and paid!) for some very good meals at very nice hotel properties in Cusco and Urubamba, we took a chance on our last meal in Peru and trusted in Tripadvisor and arrived a little early (about 10 minutes before El Huacatay officially opened. Our cab driver (senor Eduardo - he was truly a gentlemen and really took... More

We've gone there for several times and had excellent food. My favorites are trucha with quinoa, alpaca with quinotto and lomo saltado. The ambience is very nice, Highly recomiend!!!

After a vigorous hike down to town from Chincheros, this restaurant was perfect. Great shared appetizers, like carpaccio and ceviche, followed by wonderful fixed lunch menu. Freshly prepared, tasty and surprisingly sophisticated preparation make this place a winner.

Wow!! First the menu at El Huacatay blew our minds, and shortly following the food did not disappoint! A sensational fusion of European dishes complemented by Peruvian ingredients. Masterly prepared, and absolutely delicious. Do yourself a favour and check this place out.

Came in with a group of about 15 after a long day of treating cataracts for the poor. They accommodated is very quickly, food was served hot and very tasty. Only issue we had was dealing with the bill. So my suggestion is if you come with a group, make one of your friends pay the entire bill!!!

We were in 4 people having a complete menu and absolutely everything was delicious, specially the appetizers! Even the Pisco Sour was the best we had in the entire trip! Well done! Seriously, I ate better there than at famous restaurants in Lima. Well done! For real foodies.
