Oasis for Great Food and Atmosphere in Ollantaytambo

Excellent find. The plaza in Ollantaytambo is filled with the tourist restaurants with people begging you on the sidewalk to come in for marginal food - like most of the main Plazas in Peru. La Esquina, though 50 yards away, is not the case. The food is excellent, the atmosphere is relaxed and... read more

Fantastic bread is used on the bacon, lettuce, tomato & avocado sandwich, as well as on the apple cheese sandwich. Both were delish. The quinoa & tabbouleh salad was good size & delish. The Sacared Valley brewery IPA Stout was awesome, along with the other brews. Lemonade was very, very good, too. Bought breakfast items for tomorrow's train trip that... More

Honestly, I'm torn. La Esquina offers some great food (awesome carrot-ginger soup, tomato-pesto grilled cheese, and a bunch of other delicious things,) craft beer from Sacred Valley brewing, and a nice location right on the main square. Yet the owner/main server is totally dismal, and downright depressing. After visiting several times, I've never seen the guy never smile once. He... More

We stumbled upon this place after one of the most disgusting meals of our lives at another place on the main square and like it so much that we went back each day for a meal or hot chocolate. :) Speaking of the hot chocolate-It was amazing, as was most of the food. We found that all of their cakes,... More

They make a great hot chocolate! My friend had a cappucino and really enjoyed it as well. Recommend anything in their little bakery window as well!

We arrived just after a family of 7, a couple and a chap on his own. All the food was obviously cooked freshly as did have quite a wait. But everything we saw served up looked good and those eating it' cleared their plates'!! I ordered the carrot and quinoa soup and my husband had a toasted sandwich. Both were... More

Vegetarean/vegan friendly. Friendly owner, free wifi. The food was pretty good, not the best ever, but not bad either. Right at the plaza de armas

We ended up at La Esquina a few times over our 3 day stay in Ollantaytambo, 2 or 3 times for coffee and once for lunch. Food was great, with generous portions. Coffee was excellent and the owner is friendly. We enjoyed being able to sit outside and watch the people on the square.

I lived in the Sacred Valley for 5 months. I lived in Urubamba, but traveled to Ollantaytambo a few times a week for volunteer work. I gave up on trying new restaurants in town because I always wished I had just gone back to La Esquina. I don't even know how many times I ate there. It was a lot.... More
