Decent but not "WOW" great

Given the talk up by my hotel and the reviews here I was hoping for something outstanding. It wasn't that. Don't get me wrong. In a nice building, very trendy, specialised in cocktails but a little over the top. The food was good not excellent, a bit heavy on mayonnaise, not clean flavour, presentation was great. Overall the food did not live up to our expectation. Perhaps after dining at the Maido we set the bar too high for La Barra and was slightly... More

We had a delightful time for lunch. Ordered the suckling pig to share. Juicy task preparation with mustard seeds, roasted baby carrots and radishes and a small pile of what you think are mashed potatoes buy is an applesauce. Perfect with the pork. They brought these tart olives and Peruvian olive oil. Beefeater 24 gin and tonic was delish. Interesting... More

An amazing meal from start to finish. Was it the best meal I've EVER had? Well, no; not sure why people on this forum seem to think it will be. But was it a remarkable dining experience that's totally worth the time and money? Yes, absolutely. Very memorable, delicious, and unique. Highly recommend.

The restaurant is located in an old house in the charming neighborhood of San Isidro. The service is unique for each table, with explanations about the history behind each dish. Need reservation months in advance.

Absolutely beautiful mansion setting, great wait staff (except for the one lady who scolded my wife for using the flash on her iPhone while taking a picture of our drink while outside on the balcony?!) Presentation was fantastic, with each tasting menu item served in a unique way, eg. in a hollow ice cube, on stones, wood, artistic plates and... More

We went there because the hotel told us that this was one of the best restaurants in Lima. We don't think so... We are allergic to bell peppers (red, yellow and green) so we specifically asked the waiter to tell that to the cook. We also asked every detail from the dishes we chose to know if they had peppers... More

I knew I would be spending well over $100 to have the tasters' menu and had budgeted accordingly. It was excellent, innovative and absolutely delicious. However, at the end we were presented with some kind of alfalfa extract we hadn't requested (and didn't like) and were surprised to see it added $35 per person to our bill. Bad form, I... More

Simply divine. We had the menú degustación (or tasting menu) which was several courses paired with the perfect wine. The seafood was so fresh that it seemed like it was caught as we were seated. The service was impeccable and the avant garde desserts were extraordinary. Can't wait for a return visit!
