We heard this was THE place to go, so off we went. We knew there might be a long wait for a seat so arrived just after opening and were seated right away. Ceviches we tried were very good, not outstanding, and smallish portions relative to other cevicherias we tried in Lima. My husband was less impressed than I was.... More

I ate there twice in these past days and I left very satisfied with their food, service, the waiter was vary attentive and the price was actually okay. I like their tiradito clasico and leche de tigre.

I had never had ceviche before coming to Peru so I wanted to do my first ceviche right. We had heard about la mar from many people and tripadvisor so we figured we'd try ceviche there. It was great, however, after having ceviche at other places afterwards, I would say la mar's ceviche is on par with many other restaurants... More

I am traveling on my own, so that should be kept in mind. I think the price may have been more reasonable had I been sharing. The restaurant is very busy all the time and they do not take reservations. It is very popular with Peruvians and is only OPEN for LUNCH, so take that into consideration if you are... More

Gaston Acurio has opened a lot of restaurants in his time, and much like Jamie Oliver in the UK (although the comparison may be a little unfair), has had his fair share of undercooked experiments balanced with some perfectly executed little gems. La Mar in the Milaflores district of Lima is definitely one in the last camp. We went there... More

On this family trip we're touring Peru to Machu Picchu and then on to Guyaquil & Galapagos. Lima is the 1st stop from the US. Because of hearing about this restaurant from friends and relatives; we knew that we wanted to try this restaurant the moment we were fished checking into our Marriott Hotel in Lima. We had to take... More

Our waiter, Lorenzo, was fantastic in explaining the various dishes on offer and a quick history lesson on each. We would have benefitted massively if we had gone here a week earlier (while in Lima). The dishes were delicious and the bar staff makes a mean pisco sour as well. They made a drink with crushed cucumber and wasabi sauce... More

Food itself is not bad, there are a way better places like "Pescados Capitales" very fresh food and excellent staff and service. Well,in La Mar the waiter eas very rude, he wanted us to make order on 3-4 different dishes, we were 3 and wanted to share in order to try different things. When I told him that we want 2... More

Delicious dishes. The authentic, high quality ingredients and the e freshness of his seafood and fish delivered an amazing taste in most of his dishes . The corvina tiradito with rocoto sauce it was a total success on delivering the flavors of the delicious Ajis from Peru. Just stay away from the tuna nikkei style ( Peruvian Japanese fusion )...
