We ate so well throughout Peru but this restaurant was the best meal, hands down. The portions were also extremely generous.

We dined here twice already, had to return after the first time because we liked it so much. :-) Ceviche is fresh and flavorful, desserts are delightful, drinks are delicious. Our kids liked the chicken nuggets and everyone enjoyed the ambiance and overall experience. Definitely one of the best cevicherias in Lima!

If you want to say you dined at a Gaston Acurio restaurant but don't want to spend the money to eat as Astrid Y Gaston, this is a great option. (Another option is Papacho's, his burger place, but La Mar is much better and more Peruvian). A pretty casual place, large, modern, with no reservations so you just show up... More

This place doesn't take reservations and there is always a line but it's worth the wait. We had the 3 sample ceviche and they were all delicious. I had a regular pisco sour and my husband had the passion fruit and we both loved them; great place for lunch!

Loved the food, we had the ceviche sampler and also an amazing dish made out of tamale, the best suspiro limeno of our entire trip knowledgable staff

We heard this was THE place to go, so off we went. We knew there might be a long wait for a seat so arrived just after opening and were seated right away. Ceviches we tried were very good, not outstanding, and smallish portions relative to other cevicherias we tried in Lima. My husband was less impressed than I was.... More

I ate there twice in these past days and I left very satisfied with their food, service, the waiter was vary attentive and the price was actually okay. I like their tiradito clasico and leche de tigre.

I had never had ceviche before coming to Peru so I wanted to do my first ceviche right. We had heard about la mar from many people and tripadvisor so we figured we'd try ceviche there. It was great, however, after having ceviche at other places afterwards, I would say la mar's ceviche is on par with many other restaurants... More

I am traveling on my own, so that should be kept in mind. I think the price may have been more reasonable had I been sharing. The restaurant is very busy all the time and they do not take reservations. It is very popular with Peruvians and is only OPEN for LUNCH, so take that into consideration if you are... More

Gaston Acurio has opened a lot of restaurants in his time, and much like Jamie Oliver in the UK (although the comparison may be a little unfair), has had his fair share of undercooked experiments balanced with some perfectly executed little gems. La Mar in the Milaflores district of Lima is definitely one in the last camp. We went there... More
