Saqra, from the Quechua language meaning “little devil”, “naughty” or “mischief maker”. Saqra also refers to one of the characters found in the festival of the Madonna of Carmen in the village of Paucartambo, Cusco. Here, this happy little devil wins the heart of the Madonna with his childish pranks and mischief making as he dances around her playfully in the procession. These ideas inspired the creation of Saqra as a restaurant bar that offers modern Peruvian food where we reinterpret the Peruvian identity in a playful and contemporary key, conjuring up fun and colourful results. Saqra, in essence, is not really a place but a state of mind where this little devil plays a delightful host who wants that all his guests live a unique experience, where they meet again with their the inner child, sometimes long lost.

Saqra is on a little alleyway filled with restaurants and antique shops. Very pretty. The interior is so so, and didn't really stand out but the most bit of the restaurant did, which was the food. The steak brochettes with anticucho sauce were delicious. Extremely tender beef well marinated and grilled to perfection. My favourite dish of our whole trip... More

Fun restaurant with fantastic food. We went for a light meal after a 7:30pm arrival in Lima. It was a block and a half from our hotel. Eduardo was an excellent server. His English was refined in Disneyworld. Saqua had a fun theme. "You little devil" it means in the native Quechua dialect.

I had the Causa which was delicious. Then I had the Ossobuco which melted in my mouth. If that was not enough, I had he Butuelos de Chocolat which was stunning. Aside from one other restaurant in Peru, this meal was the best I had.

This was recommended to us by our guide and as it was just around the corner from our hotel we went. Turned out to be an excellent choice, good food and wine in a restaurant with random works of art all around it. There is a large area outside among the trees to sit in but it was a bit... More

Another restaurant that was listed in my Peru travel guide and a short walk from the our Miraflores hotel, was Saqra. We preferred to sit on the terrace outside, but since it allowed smokers there, opted to sit inside. The food is good but not super great, but the steak I had ordered was done as per my request and... More

Saqra is a quirky, modest restaurant that we visited the night after having an expensive tasting menu at another Lima restaurant. Our experience at Saqra was wonderful, starting off with the pleasant attention from our waitress, Ethel. Her suggestions were superb - to the point that we ordered a second round of the scallops starter (scallops broiled in their shell... More

Hello John, Thank you for your visit and for your review. Glad you liked the scallops. They are baked in an orange and pisco butter. We use 2 types of cheese on top: paria, a very salty cheese from the South and Parmesan. Have a nice week, Joaquin de la Piedra SAQRA More

I had dinner at Saqra with a group of 13 people for a celebration of the end of a G Adventure tour. Gladys from G adventure recommended this restaurant. I don't think I have words to describe just how fabulous our meals were without resorting to cliches. We ordered a variety of starters, mains and deserts and everyone said it... More

Having read all the excellent reviews, I was slightly disappointed when my mains took so long to come out, especially since I was in a rush that evening. Joaquin came over though and apologised profusely explaining that had some unexpected delay on the meats that night. I could see it was busy so fair enough. When the steak with mole... More
