Description: Saqra, from the Quechua language meaning “little devil”, “naughty” or “mischief maker”. Saqra also refers to one of the characters found in the festival of the Madonna of Carmen in the village of Paucartambo, Cusco. Here, this happy little devil wins the heart of the Madonna with his childish pranks and mischief making as he dances around her playfully in the procession. These ideas inspired the creation of Saqra as a restaurant bar that offers modern Peruvian food where we reinterpret the Peruvian identity in a playful and contemporary key, conjuring up fun and colourful results. Saqra, in essence, is not really a place but a state of mind where this little devil plays a delightful host who wants that all his guests live a unique experience, where they meet again with their the inner child, sometimes long lost.

It's not the first time I atend this restaurant. First time was some four years ago, with my wife for an annivesary. IT was dissapointing at that time (when this rest was nº1 in TA!!!). Everything was so small, only dessert was quite good. Anyway, then I have been there with clleagues and clients some other times, especially because it... More

What a gem, this was around the corner from our hotel and just wandered in after getting off the plane and being very jet lagged. It's very creative Peruvian. You can't go wrong with any of the pasta or seafood choices. I wish my spouse had let me go back for a repeat!

This place was incredible! There were four of us and we were all equally impressed with our meals, both entrees and mains. We received very friendly service and some of the best food that I have ever eaten, my only disappointment is that they do not have a Saqra in Australia!

I have eaten here on two separate occasions in the past month. The first time I had the conchitas and the steak pepper molle dish.. Clams were good in flavor with the garlic and Parmesan. The steak was very good as well, it's basically the same as the French steak au poivre.. The second time I had the house speciality... More

Good evening Duster, Thank you for your visit and for your comment. The Steak-au-poivre you had is quite special: we use pink pepper or pimienta molle. It has a special flavor. The pork you had is very traditional: it is called adobo, usually served for breakfast Arequipa (southern province). All the best, Joaquin de la Piedra SAQRA More

Saqra was a disappointment to us. In particular when comparing to the great restaurants near by. We arrived early but learned, nevertheless, that there is no "Chevice" available since they did not have any fresh fish. The food we ended ordering was OK but in no dimension impressive.

Good afternoon, Mr. Nenarias, My name is Joaquin de la Piedra, one of the owners of Saqra. We appreciate your visit and your comment. Cebiche main ingredient is fresh fish, catch from the day, bought daily. Unfortunately, when you were with us, we had no fresh white fish left. If you are still in Lima, please let us know. We... We chose this restaurant after reading numerous good reviews on T/A. If this is a reflection on Peruvian cuisine in Lima, it is not good. If this is a reflection on T/A reviews, then fellow travelers here need to up their knowledge on cuisine, no matter what the culture or location. Our waiter was friendly, the restaurant was more "funky"... More

Saqra is one of the wave of new restaurants putting Peru on the culinary map. It rings the creative changes on traditional Peruvian dishes. In the heart of the Miraflores district of Lima, there is a shady terrace and inside is decorated with contemporary art works. The service is excellent. When I booked for three but showed up alone, I... More

We had dinner twice in 3 days at Saqra (Dec 12+13) and both experiences were very nice. The table attendants (particularly Ivan) were very timely, friendly and professional. We had fish and beef which were both excellent. And for a starter, let me recommend the scallops. They were beyond delicious. On both evenings, the owner of the restaurant whose name... More

The ambiance on the outdoor patio, the food, and the service were impeccable. Ceviche was excellent. Lomo soltado was the best i sampled in Peru. Pisco sours were light and refreshing. Simply one of the best dinners for the price (very reasonable) I have had.

Hello Derrick, Thank you for visiting us and for your review. Both ceviche and lomo saltado are very traditional dishes. We follow the recipes to the dot. Cevcihe is part of our Arab heritage: the lime used comes from Northern Africa and was brought by the Spanish (actually,by the Moor women, servants of the Spanish). The secret of this dish... More
