A trip to Peru on our 45th wedding anniversary required something special. The tasting menu at the Central Restaurante, Lima seemed appropriate. The Mater Elevations( 17 entrees, each with the elevation of their origin) with paired wines was a dizzy collage of smells, color, form and taste. This intimate and open dining area allows an open view of the kitchen... More

Wonderful concept food in this now world famous restaurant. With the great reputation comes high expectations and this is the problem. The tasting menu has dishes divided according to the altitude at which the ingredients originate. So for example pollo from 2900m and so on. Altogether a very interesting dining experience.

Definitely one of the best restaurants in the world. We had the 17 course menu which was spectacular, it is a trip through the different heights of the Peruvian country, each course is associated to a specific height, from the deep ocean to the high Andes mountains. Also we chose to have the non-alcoholic pairing, so each dish came with... More

This restaurant is undoubtedly very good. Is it the 4th best in the world? I doubt it. The appetizers and desserts were fabulous, but the main course, the leg of baby goat (?) left some to be desired. It just didn't pop, as I would have expected in a restaurant of this category. Overall still a great meal.

We had the 11 course fix price menu which starts below the sea and goes into the mountains meaning the foods of everything in between. I will start with " I am not a fan of seafood" I will then say, this was very excellent seafood and I liked all of it but one item. Every dish was a piece... More

There's not doubt this is one of the top restaurants in the world. It's all about presentation and experience. I've been several times and the food & service are always on point! Make sure you have a reservation. I've been able to eat/drink at the bar a few times, but if you're visiting Lima for business/pleasure, make a reservation. $$$$

Central is billed as the best resto in Peru, now as no 4 in the world (crazy) so expectations are of course going to be high, and with high expectations the risk of disappointment is of course also high. And that was the case for us. The food is good, but not mind blowingly amazing as the price and desire... More

Delicious. Ideal to go with a date or business meetings, both are fine. It is expensive and you may require to book up with time. And probably you will go to a burger king after.

Amazing combination of dishes and wines. We took the Altitudes Maters and we got a great experience from dish one to last.
