enjoyed dinner AND breakfast there

We wanted a quiet but delicious dinner in a comfortable pleasant environment, and we found just that in the Amazon Bistro. The location was keen for great view, the street was finally quiet. As a vegetarian, I was pleased to see that I had more than just salads as an option for dinner. I had a... read more

I love amazon bistro. It is true that the prices are higher than at some other places but I am willing to pay a bit more if this means delicious home made bread. I would highly recommend the chocolate croissant, and any of the breakfast dishes (all are very good).

If you come here based on a lonely planet review, prepare to be disappointed. Maybe they changed ownership in the last year or two but it was nothing like how it is described. There is no pizza. There is no Belgian beer. The beer selection is actually very limited despite signs throughout the restaurant for Trappist and Duvel. The menu... More

Dear Lincster20, I am glad you liked our Croque-Madame. You can. Big, real butter, homemade bread. Our breadmakers enter the restaurant at 4 am every morning 7 days a week in order for our customers to have fresh bread, full-wheat bread, baguettes, croissant, chocolate croissant, ... A good Croque is good butter, hard to get in such an isolated place... More

I so needed a decent coffee in Iquitos when we returned from our days on the amazon and found it here. Not only that, I loved my soft boiled eggs with toast soldiers to dip and my husband loved his baguette served with his bacon and eggs. Very nice comfort food for a lazy Sunday morning and a view of... More

Wandering the malecón since Dawn on the Amazon turned out to be closed Sundays, I came across this Bistro. Turns out they'll still serve me breakfast at 11, so I chose an outside table. Excellent café con leche got me ready for one of their bigger breakfasts. I couldn't read the names on the tablet-based menu, but it included ham,... More

This is a place where one can have a quiet meal away from the street hawkers who never seem to leave you alone at other places in the area with outdoor seating. The dishes are thoughtfully prepared and deliciously fresh. Nice drinks can be had and you could almost believe you were in a French bistro somewhere other than the... More

We tried 3 places in Iquitos and this was the best. Yes it's expensive and there is no aircon, and I also had chicken vol-a-vont, which is just chicken pieces in cream sauce with a ton of fries. But it is away from the noisy grotty area and the service was fine.

Place was recommended to us by a friend but we didn't like it - had the pasta which was huge but tasteless. Had not had such blend pasta in the past. Will not go back again. Wifi was ok, no air conditioning in hot Iquitos but most restaurants there are not air conditioned, it seems.

Ordered chicken vol-au-vent, but received a plate of chicken in a mushroom cream sauce with French fries!? No sign of any pastry. Bizarre! Good coffee. Won't go back.

Just wanting an afternoon snack I went to this bistro; I ordered a cup of coffee, a juice and some french fries. The juice never came and the coffee was somehow weak (/or watery). When I wanted to pay using Mastercard (which is advertised all over the café), I was told I had to purchase for at least 20 soles,... More
