Good variety

As a gringo I found this restaurant to be a breath of fresh air......offering more than chicken and rice. The hamburger was actually very good and the dessert shakes were refreshing. They offer regional fare but I would recommend going elsewhere for truly Peruvian food.

Gerald, his wife and staff were are the best. Gerald helped us with questions about Iquitos and made my birthday special with cake and singing. The food was excellent there. We tried several different dishes. The fish cooked in banana leaf is the best. You must try it! The beer was always cold and reasonably priced. They keep the rift... More

The owner is from Texas and you will know it as soon as you walk in. They serve authentic Peruvian dishes and drinks in a fun atmosphere with American memorabilia all around. They also sell local art and accept both PEN (soles) and USD. Try the 7 Roots Sour!

We went there again and again and again. Being from the south it is nice to find likeminded individuals like Gerald and his buddies there. The menu was amazingly varied and even though the food was not superb, the friendly atmosphere, big screen TVs with whatever sport you want to watch makes up for any shortcomings. Great American food. Extremely... More

I wasn't looking for "a taste of home" or of Texas, but my work companion and I went for late dinner out of hotel and it was open, and nice young lady on the staff invited us in. Had a great dinner. We started coming for breakfast too. Met the owner, a Texan (surprise!) with long experience in Peru; most... More

This place is a disgrace. The owner is a racist and airs his opinions freely whether you choose to listen or not. The food was terrible with a floury gravy slopped on our plates and the rest unspeakable. Bad food, pushy service, arrogant proprietor. Avoid the joint.

The food was scrumptious. I had the Cream of Onion soup. The owner Gerry, and his wife Pam, were so friendly and made us feel most welcome and happy to be there. The decor is eclectic an wonderful I was happy to see a Scottish flag in amongst it all! He does need more Aggie stuff though, lol!!

The Yellow Rose of Texas is an icon of life in Iquitos. You must eat here at least once. No trip to Iquitos is complete without a visit here. This is the quintessential watering hole for virtually all travelers passing through town. Almost every shamanic journey either begins or ends at this location. A popular destination for travelers while you... More

Enjoyed eating here and during my time in Iquitos went there a few times. The breakfast omelet was great, dinner selection plentiful, close to the hotel, I definitely recommend it. The owner, a Texan living in Iquitos most of the year will come to your table and see how you're doing. The best place I ate at while there.

3 stars only because it is a tad expensive for what you get, in that area of town. The food was really nice, service was good and quick, staff were friendly, really good but expensive we thought.
