A bit out of city centre but definitely worth the walk if you want to enjoy local dishes like rocotto relleno, lechon or pastel de papas. Huge plates so come with an appetite!

This large bustling restaurant in the Yanahuara neighbourhood is a must do in Arequipa. It is good value, straight forward, friendly, with a large and varied menu of regional cuisine. They only serve what is fresh today, and the food is tasty and hearty. We had trout, suckling pig with a big starter salad. They have excellent taster dishes of... More

Being located in the street where I live I have been here several times. Portions are nice and big, and haven't had a bad meal here yet. Service is something not to expect here like most restaurants, so whenever you get your waiter or waitress go ahead and order everything while you can, you might not see him/her for a... More

This restaurant is a very pleasant walk from the center of town, over a bridge and through a lovely pedestrian/park zone. As many reviewers have commented, the restaurant is HUGE, and full of locals. Very nice atmosphere. Recommend the Estofado de Res!

When you go inside you will see how big the place is... they have at least 100-150 tables!! The place is huge!! BUT they do not take a long time taking your order or bringing the food. Rocoto relleno is good, but you need to have luck not to get the most spicy ones... Camarones are awesome, anyway you have... More

This place was awesome. The biggest meals you have ever seen, authentic food, good service and a nice setting. The soup was my favourite (but too big for one person). We were impressed that we managed to leave our camera here and when we phoned later to see if it was there they had it and so we managed to... More

We asked few local guys for a recommendation for local food. All pointed this place. when we finally got there, we found a big place, full with locals which is always a good sign. The waitresses dressed with authentic dressing and were very kind, though a bit slow.. Dishes looked great in the menu. My vegan wife could eat only... More

Having read this Arequipan picanteria was supposedly the choice of locals, we happily confirmed this was true rocking up on a Sunday. The (huge) place was absolutely packed out, and barely a tourist in sight! The classic doble plate did not disappoint; a deliciously spicy rocoto rellano, a potato cake you couldn't jump over and slabs of succulent (if slightly... More

Normally we don't eat a lot of fried food. But today we had a choice of fried lamb ribs (my partner is Basque) and how could we resist! Also we viewed others eating crawfish that was fried and it looked delicious. Soooo. We had both along with a couple of local beers....a meal to die for. A perfect in Arequipa... More

We ordered: Ocopa a lo antaño - a potato dish with a creamy type sauce (20soles) this was tasty and fresh and came with a delicious piece of fried cheese. Soltero de queso (19soles) - this was also nice and fresh and contained lots of cheese (uncooked) and carrots, broad beans, corn with a light dressing. Chupe camaron - similar... More
