If you are really hungry, this is the place to eat! This place was recommended by our tour guide Liz from Costamar Travel. She warned us that the serving portions were big, and she was not kidding. This restaurant is big in size. I don't think i have ever been to a restaurant that it will take me 10 minutes... More

To start, we've been there around 4:15pm and they close at 5:00pm. We were returning from The Colca Caynon. More

I went there in a Sunday for lunch. The restaurant was packed with both locals and tourists (domestic and international). I had the Doble which comes with Rocoto Relleno (stuffed peppers), Pastel de Papa (basically the Peruvian version of gratin dauphinois), Choclo (corn), some cheese and a salad. If you are a big eater, it's right up your alley! My... More

Met a Cusco local on the train to Macchu Picchu who said this was his favorite place in Arequipo to get home cooking. Our Arequipo guide endorsed the choice, noting it was a place locals go for a time on the town. Cuy (guinea pig), adult chichi ( home fermented purple corn beer), chicarones of pork, beef or shrimp, chile... More

Our experience at this restaurant was not great. They are not able to explain what is on the menu and it seems that they do not care if you understand or not. We order appetizers that were so large and spicy that we could not eat them. The main dishes were also big and spicy and we told the waiter... More

This is a great Picanteria, where the food is sassy and spicy. The pork loin was the best I have ever had, anywhere. Watch out for the green aji, it was a little much! But the red stuff was perfect. Don't forget the chicha morada. Good luck saving room for dessert.

This is an excellent restaurant for a full range of local specialities. Wonderful atmosphere for family, friends, romance, business or combination of all 4! We arrived (2 pm) too late for the daily special - and chose instead, for the Palomino feast for 2. Although delicious, on reflection - it was just too much - and especially too much meat.... More

Chose this place to try my first 'cuy' (guinea pig)! Surprisingly it was quite tasty! The restaurant itself is fantastic, it's worth walking to from the city centre and was recommended by my tour guide. Glad I came here and would eat here more often if I had more days in Arequipa. Food is excellent and a side range. Prices... More

We went to La Nueva Palomino in April 2014. The restaurant is a short distance from the plaza de armas. We took a 5 minute cab, but I wish we would've walked because it looked like a nice stroll outside of the tourist area. We had this platter with Rocoto Relleno, various potatos, corn, and beef. The ingredients were incredibly... More

Excellent choice of local food. The restaurant filled up with many locals both times I visited. The Especial dish, with a variety of dishes in a platter (for 2 people) was very very good, with dishes like locoto relleno and chicharron. I had the frozen lemonade and it was perfect for lunch, with the heat of the day and the... More
