Solid Dining Experience

Having researched Peruvian cuisine prior to my trip I was familiar with the name Gaston Acurio, but wasn't planning on having time to get to any of his restaurants. However, after another activity fell through, we suddenly had a free night in Arequipa, and having randomly passed by Chicha earlier... read more

OK, this restaurant obviously has a great pedigree with Gaston Acurio behind it, but I was disappointed for several reasons. The physical setting is fabulous... several dining rooms off a covered courtyard with a glass partitioned kitchen. The English menu is nearly useless in terms of describing the selections. We did have an English speaking waiter directed to take our... More

We had a great dinner here back in Sept. 2014 when we visited Arequipa, after visiting Santa Catalina monastery across the street. Atmosphere is authentic and almost cafe style in the inner courtyard with open kitchen, but had a feel of upscale dining as well. Cocktails were creative and well-mixed. A large menu of cocktails with pisco. Flavors blended well... More

Great food served by nice and qualified waiters in a beautiful location at extremely fair prices. (We spent about USD 100 for 2 people for 2 courses with drinks and coffee.) The waiter's recommendation for newbies to Atequipa's cuisine: Trio Picantero as a shared appetizer and Adobo de Cerdo and Triple Tradicion as main courses, also to share. This allowed... More

Wow! The service was excellent and the meals something else. We were blown away by how good everything was tonight. Have been to a few other Restaurants in Arequipa (wrote trip advisor reviews) but this one is the best, you do pay a bit more but everything you got back was more! 5 stars

Service was quite slow even there were just about three tables. Food was edible but nothing special. With the price they have, I expected a lot more from their food. We had Chupe Seco, Ceviche and some duck dish which all turned out too bland excepted ceviche that was nice enough. Drinks we had was okay. Pro is, it's beautiful... More

I only had one night and one opportunity to try a restaurant in Arequipa, and I was glad I chose this one. Nice atmosphere, very friendly host and staff. The cocktails were delicious, and the Rocoto Relleno is not to be missed (p.s., they make it SPICY if you ask for it...). I wish I had not been solo, would... More

This is a well known chain in Peru offering reasonable food and adequate service. We had the Osobuco and the Alpaca curry. The Osobuco is a large sized dish and very heavy on salt, and the Alpaca curry served on a bed of quinoa wasn’t very spicy and if I didn’t know I was eating Alpaca for the first time,... More

Chicha was one my best culinary experiences in Arequipa - which is already in my opinion one of the best cities to eat in Peru! The service was excellent, and the food brilliant. I was in particular amazed by the Cuy Pekines - an inventive arequipenian version of a Beijing Duck, which might be the best adaptation of the original... More

The service and setting were great. Our appetizers were great, but main courses and dessert left a bit to be desired. We were convinced that the sauce on one of our ravioli dishes was just mayonnaise and mustard mixed together. The creme brûlée was runny.
