This place wasn't exactly local and main stream. Felt like it catered to visitors, especially visitors. Regardless, food was good. I had a sample of fried cuy. Closest comparison is a cross between smooth chicken and frog legs. The rocotto relleno (small portion) was pretty good. The complex actually has 5 restaurants.

Choice of indoor or outdoor seating. It was a nice day so we chose the upper patio for a view of the city and the volcano Misti. We ordered two dishes, one being the alpaca steak in pepper sauce which was delicious nd came with huge and very tasty fries and veggies; the second dish was from the menu del... More

El Montonero is known throughout Arequipa as being one of the top restaurants however I have been there three times and haven't been particularly impressed. The prices are expensive, as expensive as the restaurants around the Plaza, they cater for large tour groups and as a result you can end up waiting for long periods of time to get served.... More

Great food, but they are kind of short of staff, you have to wait and wait to be served, but great view, nice atmosphere, delicious food.....and huge servings!! entrees are huge, no need to ask for a main course if you cannot eat that much. I went with my whole family and my 5 years old daughter and they had... More

We were a party of 8, four local residents and four vacationers. We had ceviche with three flavors, stuffed avocado, a dish with stuffed pepper, potato terrine and mashed potato covered with nicely seasoned gravy. The servings are generous. We ordered two of each dishes. The ceviche dish had, shrimp, fish and octopus. Each one had a distinct seasoning, served... More

This place charged my mother-in-law $5 for breaking a glass. My mother-in-law is partially paralyzed in a wheelchair.

My family was visting from the US and we decided to try this place out. It's a great location with a great view. The facilities were bright and open with lots of outdoor space. Our kids enjoyed playing on the playground in the corner and jumping on the trampoline. The live music was great and we weren't asked for tips... More

I was recommended this restaurant by the staff at Casado de Palacios Viejo. Two blocks from our hotel and four blocks from the Plaza de Armas. The location is beautiful with indoor and outdoor seating. We seemed to be the only tourists there. The waitstaff is courteous and prompt without being intrusive. The mate de coca was good. My brother... More

This is a great place for groups and parties. Good food at a good price. The BBQ is so fine with chicken and beef and sausages. Cold cokes and good lemonade.
