Description: The Alpandina dishes offered by the Zig Zag Restaurant are the result of a creative culinary fusion deeply rooted in the mountains, where the sun endows foodstuffs with energy and balanced components. The dishes most representative of Alpandino gastronomy arise from a marvellous synthesis of unique time-hallowed ingredients from all over Peru, combined with ancient and modern culinary techniques from the Alps and the Andes. One of the results is our great speciality: Volcanic-Stone-Cooked Meats and Fish.

We got alpaca steak on a volcanic stone sizzle plate which was absolutely delicious. It was a bit more expensive than most places in Peru, but it was definately worth it. Good service with english spoken

First meal we had there was the Peruvian Sexy Salad and the trout. Both superb. We went back the next day and were slightly disappointed because the meat trio we had had the same sauces as the trout dish and the sauces didn't work as well with [the excellent] meat. The salad we had was very good too (first one... More

f you want tenderloin Alpaca in Arequipa, this is the place to be. Friendly owner and waitresses, meat as it should be. Papas in all kind of forms. The second time we went, we got a pisco sour for free. It was the first in Peru and was delightfull at the moment but got us on the toilet too many... More

I brought a group of 8 here and they raved about the experience for days! Service was amazing and the lava rock cooked trilogy of meats and trout were to die for. The chocolate brownie with homemade ice cream was a perfect end to an incredible meal.

We set out to find this restaurant for our first meal in Arequipa and were very glad that we did. We climbed the Gustave Eiffel designed spiral staircase and were shown to a little table in the upstairs window which had a great view of the mountains in the background and the comings and goings from the Sunday church service... We went to see the Eiffel-designed staircase and ended up enjoying a gourmet meal. Zig Zag bills itself as a mix of the Alps and Andes, quite accurately in our opinion. European service, sauces, wine and desserts with alpaca meat and the ubiquitouas Peruvian potato were a nice combination. It was pricier than some places, but definitely worth it.

Read so many great reviews of this restaurant so emailed ahead (for a friends birthday) to secure our reservation. Our table was right by the window upstairs which gave wonderful views. The staff were very attentive and helpful. Food was wonderful. My highlight was the trio of meats and the quinoa with cheese. Its a definite must if you visit... More

This place is very close to perfect! We were welcomed in for an early dinner, seated at a nice table upstairs, and given time to go through the extensive menu. My partner and I each started with carpaccio - his was beef and mine was salmon and trout. Both were fresh and light, but I thought the fish flavours were... More

We had alpaca in two different ways with potatoes. It started out with some nice bread with 3 different kinds of butter. The food was served without we had to wait. The meat was lovely. With the volcano stone came 4 kinds of butter and sauces and nice potatoes. With the other alpaca meat we had potatoes in roquefort sauce.... More
