Tasty ecuadorian food

My husband and I had lunch there on our first day in Puerto Ayora. It was late around 1:00pm, we looked around other restaurants and because of the menu we decided to try it; it seems to us the menu was more ecuadorian than international food. First I would like to clarify the locator map is not correct. The restaurant is located about 7 blocks north of the main dock along Ave Charles Darwin. The pin point is not there. El Chocolate is a smallish place right on the main drag. The seating is mostly open air and has good spots to view the happenings along... More

This restaurant has quite a nice view though does go back a bit so depends on which table you get. The food is ok, good value for money. We had lunch 3 times and only once did we have to wait for our food. They offer a set menu which it is why it so popular but we just had... More

We used Lonely Planet rating to select El Chocolate, and wish we had checked Trip Advisor instead. The service was friendly and good, the food was marginal, but the establishment was not clean. Our party of six ordered a variety of food - pasta or fish dishes mainly - no one was thrilled with the taste / quality of their... More

We had the $6 lunch special. The soup was great, the fish sauce was bland and the salsa that was served on the table had black hair in it. I ate quite a bit of the salsa before I noticed the hair. It ruined the experience.

My wife and I wanted to have lunch here. We ordered 3 empanadas (2 vegies and one chicken) and a tomato soup. The empanadas tasted awful and there was a long black hair in every one of them!!! I could not finish the tomato soup as the taste was not like tomato at all. One point for the view of... More

Lunch specials with soup, chicken or fish plus rice and coleslaw for only $5. Nice patio atmosphere. Wait staff seemed busy, but were very friendly.

I had an unmemorable meal here. Service was decent but the food was nothing special. I had a club sanwhich that came with weird-looking ketchup. Not great, but also not terrible.
