Terrific make-over of a former landmark restaurant! Closed last year and in failing state, the common ownership with Hotel Santa Lucia went for broke in a magnificent and extremely tasteful refurbishment. Preserving the villas' balustrades typical of Cuenca atrium homes - the new look is all in a sophisticated white, new gray stone floors, glass enclosed wine room, large planters,... More

A very classy restaurant with elegant premises, excellent food and very good service. Pricey but worth it.

We were pleasantly surprised by this place. Their entres were made with fresh and tasty ingredients. We ordered their green salad and tuna tartare. Their pastas are definitely their forte - creamy, rich, delicious. Their lava cake was superb - only matched by Flemming's stake house' in Texas. Don't order their lamb chops though. Unfortunately, ours were quite chewy, although... More

We ate here on Good Friday. The place looks brand new. After talking to our waiter, it is in fact new. New owner and totally redone interior. We were referred here by the front desk at our hotel, Hotel Santa Lucia. It turns out they now own Villa Rosa ( the review form is the Santa Lucia form with a... More

We enjoyed a lovely meal here, it was like stepping back in time, waiters in white jackets and very attentive, lovely little restaurant. We had a steak which was cooked to perfection and we also shared a dessert, all excellent and friendly staff who were very attentive to our needs.

I enjoyed a very good meal at this restaurant featuring Ecuadorian specialties in a beautiful colonial space. I had a sea bass in caper sauce with potatoes and vegetable and two local fruit sorbets/ice creams. The service was excellent and I was pleased with this recommendation from my hotel.

What a nice little find in Cuenca. We stopped there for lunch and had a great experience. As an small little starter they brought out these little tortillas filled with cheese that were delicious. I had a mixed green salad that had hearts of palm, tomato and cheese that was okay but the fettuccine fungi was incredible! We then had... More

This restaurant was recommended by our hotel. Everything was impeccably good!! The food was delicious, the service was great and the fee was less than $30 for 2 meals. I loved it and will definitely go back. They had a problem printing my receipt so it took them a few minutes so, I left because I didn't need it and... More

I have never had a bad meal at Villa Rosa and feel it is one of the best in town. Yes, the atmosphere is a bit formal, but sometimes that's what one wants. The service is attentive and the prices are fair for the quality offered.

This is a stylish restaurant in a fine setting. The service was excellent and the food very good, but perhaps too large in servings. Not extraordinary, but upper level and quality. There are better places in town, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with dining here.
