Pretty good tapas in a great atmosphere

We ordered a number of tapas and they were tasty (not like you get in Spain, but refreshing in Ecuador). The service was fantastic as well as the atmosphere

A good friend recommended we have dinner at Akelarre Restaurant/cafe on General Torres last Saturday night. I had never been to this restaurant but based on the Chicken and Curry I had it will not be the last time and I will try many of the other offerings they have on the menu. The service was good and the waiter... More

We stayed in the Akelarre restaurant two time during our visit in Cuenca. On lunch you have a good option to sit in the inner courtyard when the sun is shinning and you can enjoy the good weather conditions. For dinner we recommend to stay inside the restaurant, which has nice small tables where you can fell the private atmosphere.... More

I am eating this dish while typing. (Yes, terrible manners) It is definitely quesi de cabra. And this is our favorite place in Cuenca. Now, if only it had Club Negra on the beer menu it would be perfect.

From the service to the food a near perfect evening. We had only tapas/dessert and really enjoyed them. The service was non intrusive and with good training making it very enjoyable. The decor is well design. A treat for our farewell to Ecuador

I can't wait to come back here and try more tapas. We had the croquetas, tortilla española, and my fiancé got a main dish of Mexican fajitas. We also split a pitcher of sangria, which is hands down the best sangria I've had in Ecuador. Loved it!!

Even though the name is Basque for a place witches gather, we had two great experiences there. The service was friendly & warm the food served promptly, and was it good. One of the best Tortilla Espanola I've had anywhere. Reasonable prices, and beautiful courtyard setting. The Paella one night was average, but I didn't expect more. The other dinners... More

A friend had me meet her there for a late afternoon wine. We had the grilled shrimp and lomo fino on skewers and shrimp scampi. We arrived in Cuenca on a Sunday afternoon. Everything was closed. We run into this restaurant and coffee shop and proved to be a great alternative. Place nice, food fresh and tasty, small portions. Service good and staff friendly.

Like others I headed here Sunday night when the Italian in the La Posada turned out to be closed. Sunday night (only) they over paella with a decent selection of clams, shrimps, calamari, mussels (try to fine the pencil sized chorizo). 1/2 carafe of vino tinto @$10 USD was a good buy. Staff a little quirky but nice. Place named... More
