My wife and I love coming to Moliendo Cafe. The owners always greet us with big smiles and handshakes. They don't waste time making it to our table. They bring our drinks and menus immediately. They take the time to describe the Colombian food offered on the menu and encourage us to try things we haven't had before. We particularly... More

The owners are so friendly and welcome in their diners with a hug and kiss. Food comes out fast, is delicious, and they have far bigger portions than most of the other restaurants near by. I saw they got voted #1 by GringoPost - highly agree.

We were excited to try this new restaurant. Overall it was very disappointing. The food was tasty but average. . And finally the service leaves much to be desired. We will not return here.

I love Colombia (especially Medellin) and was so excited to discover this fantastic little restaurant only one block from my hostel. I was greeted with a warm handshake the first time I arrived and the food came promptly. The menu is a range of largely Antioquian dishes and I ate here 3 times in 3 days, twice for dinner (two... This was our first introduction to the comida tipica almuerzo of Cuenca. It was a good, inexpensive meal: $2.50. We did not return during our month in Cuenca, having found that spending a little more provided a lunch more to our tastes.

The lunch special was $2.50 which included a nice soup, modest size portion of meat with rice and small salad, plus drink. We also ordered the meat plate from the menu for $6.50. The meat plate had pork and beef, french fries and a nice avocado salad. The flavors were nice on all items. Service was fast. A simple restaurant... More

I agree with all the other positive reviews below... while in Cuenca we had a hankering for comfort food and the arepas here really did the trick... so we ended up going back every day for lunch! Friendly owner, great arepas (the daily set lunch always looked great too) and crazy busy at lunchtime... half the fun is sitting with... More

I strolled by Moliendo during lunch hour, and was greeted by a friendly man who told me I could share a table with 2 other ladies (who were already eating). Since it was quite crowded, I gladly accepted the offer. The service was quick (surprising in this part of the world sometimes), and the food was literally the best I've... More

I came here during lunch and ordered the daily 'almuerzo'. I was pleasantly surprised there was a vegetarian option available (lentil patty). All almuerzos are served in a restaurant are served first with a bowl of soup then your plate. the owner is very friendly always greeting patrons with a handshake when entering. There is a bell you can ring... More

I visited Moliendo Cafe at about 7:00 in the evening. There were several other diners there, but it appears to me that their peak time is at the lunch hour, about 1:00-3:00 PM, when many Ecuadorians eat their main meal of the day. It appears to be a very popular restaurant and, as far as I'm concerned, for good reason.... More
