This was our first introduction to the comida tipica almuerzo of Cuenca. It was a good, inexpensive meal: $2.50. We did not return during our month in Cuenca, having found that spending a little more provided a lunch more to our tastes.

The lunch special was $2.50 which included a nice soup, modest size portion of meat with rice and small salad, plus drink. We also ordered the meat plate from the menu for $6.50. The meat plate had pork and beef, french fries and a nice avocado salad. The flavors were nice on all items. Service was fast. A simple restaurant... More

I agree with all the other positive reviews below... while in Cuenca we had a hankering for comfort food and the arepas here really did the trick... so we ended up going back every day for lunch! Friendly owner, great arepas (the daily set lunch always looked great too) and crazy busy at lunchtime... half the fun is sitting with... More

I strolled by Moliendo during lunch hour, and was greeted by a friendly man who told me I could share a table with 2 other ladies (who were already eating). Since it was quite crowded, I gladly accepted the offer. The service was quick (surprising in this part of the world sometimes), and the food was literally the best I've... More

I came here during lunch and ordered the daily 'almuerzo'. I was pleasantly surprised there was a vegetarian option available (lentil patty). All almuerzos are served in a restaurant are served first with a bowl of soup then your plate. the owner is very friendly always greeting patrons with a handshake when entering. There is a bell you can ring... More

I visited Moliendo Cafe at about 7:00 in the evening. There were several other diners there, but it appears to me that their peak time is at the lunch hour, about 1:00-3:00 PM, when many Ecuadorians eat their main meal of the day. It appears to be a very popular restaurant and, as far as I'm concerned, for good reason.... More

We went to this place after the place we wanted to visit another place which seemed to have closed down. I am so glad that happened as we ended up having a fabulous lunch here! My boyfriend had the daily special three course lunch - awesome value for $2.50 and i had this crepe like thing with a mixture of... More

A small Colombian restaurant with fantastic food and low prices. Great service too. It's not fancy but for the price it is outstanding. Everyone raves about the Arepas (like Mexican gorditas). Me too. They are tasty and filling with thick corn tortillas as a base. They don't skimp on the ingredients either...if you order the lomo you'll be pleased with... More

The lunch here never disappoints me...choosing the carne de res a la plancha is the best! always fresh, tasty so tasty. The soups are killer good, always accompanied by a banana. And the juices are always different and fresh! But, then they have the arepas, colombian style! and I LOVE them! I have designed my favorite that includes guacamole, hogao... More

This little "Mom and Pop" shop really brings a lot to the table. Great value, great food and a comfy vibe. Hearty and simply prepared Columbian food that is fresh and cheap! Nothing on the menu tops $6.00, and Almuerzo is usually $2.50 or $3.00. The owners are working the floor and make you very welcome with good service and... More
