We were looking for some place special for our 41st anniversary, and tried Casa Alonso. It is pretty unique in Cuenca, being "fine dining" at its best. The restaurant is situated in a garden area of a hotel, with a pianist playing in the center of the courtyard. The food is fabulous, though the price is rather high. Definitely a... More

Casa Alonso is a truly upscale place. The atmosphere is charming. The restaurant is located in a beatiful old fashion building. We went there for a Christmas dinner and it was delightful. The chef Rafaela was very sweet with usand cooks wonderful. The food was really excellent and the menu was innovative for Cuenca. We had a four course meal... More

Wonderful outdoor garden setting under an umbrella. Service was first class. This is the restaurant with the Masion Alcazar hotel. My wife ordered lamb chops which she said were not quite up to American standards but they were very good and the best lamb she has had in Ecuador. I had salmon on a bed of fettuccine. which was very... More

I have said in other reviews that there is no high end dining in Cuenca…you are simply charged a lot more for an upscale surrounding with very average food that is available elsewhere for much less. The one (and not really was only one) exception to this is Casa Alonso. First of all the room is charm itself. We made... More

We treated ourselves to a dinner at this lovely restaurant last night and were not disappointed. The ceviche was perfect and my salad a wonderful combination of flavors. I ordered the duck and my husband had the lamb (both done perfectly) my duck came with a Parmesan risotto that was divine. We finished with the trio if creme brulee and... More

This beautiful restaurant and hotel complex appears to have weathered another change in chefs! While this is never a great thing, Casa Alonzo still rises above it all with great quality, consistent presentation and superior service. A guest of ours enjoyed a nicely prepared crab encrusted sea bass, my wife delighted in beautifully prepared baby lamb chops - and I... More

Tucked away in the back of Maison Alcazar is this wonderful restaurant. We had the caprese salad to start and it was quite possibly the best I have ever had outside of Italy. Our entree was Corvina fish topped with crab meat and tomato coulis with a sweet potato side dish...it was fantastic! Our dessert was a pastry topped with... More

Casa Alonso is tucked away in the gardens of the Mansion Alcazar Hotel, and it's simply beautiful. Part of the restaurant is a conventional dining room, and the other is a glass gazebo where you feel like you're sitting right in the garden. The food is excellent, and the prices, while higher than those at most restaurants in Cuenca, are... More

Very expensive for Cuenca but worth it. Top class food, ambience, impeccable service. This rivals any top restaurant in Europe or the USA. Don't miss the sherbet served on a rose petal between courses to cleanse the palate. This places makes for a memorable evening.
