Sadly, as of June 29, 2014, California Kitchen has closed. This was an excellent restaurant in El Centro with consistently good food and service. It was extremely popular with norteamericanos. We wish the owner, Pablo the best.

This restaurant has been at the top of everyone's list from North America as a must since opeing several years ago. Having dined here over the years, consistency is maintained, quality more than good, English spoken... and menu offerings very recognizable to those visiting from the USA and local ex-pats that are occasionally homesick. Great Cheese Filled Potato Skins, Big... More

Wound up dinning there on numerous occassions (breakfast, lunch and dinner). I was informed that it was under new ownership. The service was excellent and the food was excellent in presentation and flavor. Some people commented that it was pricey, but I felt pricing was equivident to the quality of the food.

I was there last year for an American Breakfast and it was more than I could have hoped for, but the last visit, the hash browns was a big rectangle of potatoes that were mushy and the eggs were over done and the biscuits not as light and fluffy. Overall when I left I felt very dissatisfied.

Clearly caters to "Americans" you know..."them." The food is passable say, in Omaha, Nebraska, but hardly anywhere else.

Went for lunch. Just fair & somewhat overpriced. Failed to give my credit card back, but in spite of the restaurant being closed I went in never the less & found it stuck in one of the "bill holders" that present at the table

This restaurant exists only as a place for finding American ex-patriots and American style food. While we prefer ethnic foods of many Nationalities we went to this one because American friends invited us. It is upstairs with no elevator, which was a slight turn-off for us at 73, because we had to climb the massive stone stairs with a little... More

Can't find anywhere else to eat? You'll always get good food and great service. A little pricier than many other spots but a comfortable place with free wifi.

This is a gringo hangout for good reason. While the building and decor is Ecuadorian, the menu and service is definitely American. Other than the sign above the entrance, nothing once you walk in indicates if California Kitchen is upstairs or main level or really where it is. We chose upstairs and had to ask if we were in the...
