THE dining experience of a lifetime.

My cheeks hurt from smiling so much - from the minute we arrived at Tiestos until we left. Juan Carlos made our time at this restaurant THE dining experience of a lifetime. I would go back in a heartbeat. It has been 2 years since we were there and I am still telling people about this place. We... read more

For almuerzo, had the fish/mariscos salsa option for 2. Portions were very generous, very delicious. Maybe best I've had in ten days in Ecuador. Maybe better to come with more people and have the options for 4. The table beside us kept getting more dishes delivered for a group of 6, including the biggest shrimp I have seen. The chef/owner?... The chef/owner Juan Carlos joined us for a briefing of the 12 or so spice dishes on the table and as we went thru our courses of food he came back to place a different spice on the dish that "opened" the flavor and so much improved the flavor beyond the norm. Good quality meats and a wonderful evening. Not... More

Tiestos food was very good. Portions are huge. This is a place to go with friends or family. The negative would be the touristy nature of the place. In my opinion your hotel staff can probably recommend a neighborhood restaurant with as good or better food and a lot more atmosphere. MHM

This is a place living on an old reputation and the staff acts like you should be serving them. Ask for water, you might get it 20 minutes later. I had to get up and go get my water from the bar lady becuase my waiter had no interesting serving us. Ask for a bottle of wine in addition to... More

A bit more expensive by Ecuadorean standards, and have your front desk make a reservation. We had the tasting menu for two including wine for 75.00, and we would have paid triple that at least in the US. Great if you are a filet lover. The chef was featured in Conde Nast as one of the top 100 restaurants in... More

We have eaten at some of the top restaurants in the states and this food compares with all of the best. You must save room for the dessert. It is true artwork. The flavors are all perfect. This is a must on any visit to cuenca.

This restaurant is not cheap but the food was of excellent quality. It’s quite spacious but is divided up into one main area and several side rooms creating a nice intimate atmosphere. If you are not fluent in Spanish, bring a dictionary as most of the waiters don’t speak any English. Reservations are highly advised.
