Without a reservation we were seated and with the assistance of the chef, Juan Carlos, had a most enjoyable meal. My son was highly amused on his return from the restroom!

Tiestos is a restaurant with a lot of creativity on local dishes. Don't expect just the traditional food, but traditional recipes with steroids !!! Juan Carlos, the chef and owner, is definitively the key of the great success of this restaurant. He comes to your table smiling and inform you about the different options with the passion that characterizes the... More

Went to Tiestos at the end of our journeys to Peru, Galapagos and Ecuador. Went for lunch on the recommendation of hotel concierge and tour guide. The restaurant is beautifically decorated and we were welcomed by Chef/ Dir. Juan Jaramillo. He guided us thru the menu and 9 salsa combinations very adeptly. We enjoyed the shrimp soup , beef ribs... More

Before we traveled to Cuenca most our friends referred to Tiestos as a must when visiting Cuenca. We visited the restaurant during lunch. We seated ourselves, then asked to be moved to a room with better lighting. We waited to more than 10 minutes for a waiter to come, one of the guests had to get up to request service.... More

Smack in the middle of downtown it give you a good feel of the city. Nice menu selection with above average flavor. Try the Chicken currry with Macadamia. Very nice decor and excellent service. Desserts were excellent, try delicias. Terrible experience getting a taxi to pick us up..nobody could? Better to have somebody wait for you

We wanted to try this restaurant but stay within budget so we shared a shrimp soup and the macadamia chicken curry. They were both very good but rather overpriced. All of the sides that came with the chicken looked impressive but were largely filler, nothing that would really account for the price, and the soup and chicken servings themselves were... More
