Among the best food in Cuenca if not all of Ecuador. Some dishes are stellar. But a few are busts. Chef/owner Juan Carlos Solano is a great showman. Flamboyant and friendly. Don't let him just prepare what he wants. You'll get too much food and spend too much money. The meats are much better than the fish. Recommend making your... More

Tiestos was always the best of the best restaurants in Cuenca. We adored inviting visiting friends to experience the true Ecuadorian character and special highlight of our new home. The sizzling prawns, chicken curry, and blue cheese filet miñon are outrageously yummy. Best of all, host Juan Carlos always went around to every table to welcome, delight and entertain. Even the... More

Meat is very good and they elaborate very interesting dishes joining the local ingredients with an expert elaboration by the chef to make original dishes. The lomo fino con moras, ishpingo and vino tinto is very tasty and... More

This restaurant has moved since I first visited it. It is still on the same street but farther down in a slightly seedier area so taking a taxi is advised. (Trip advisor still has the old address so check it out before you give it to the taxi). The room is now bigger and easier for bigger groups. Our group... More

We had heard so much about "the ultimate" restaurant in Cuenca that the let down was hard. Atmosphere is fantastic. Food served family style so it was awkward with a group to agree what to eat. The servings were in tiny bowls that we had to request fills often. It was hard to "dig in" as we were always conscious... More
